Chapter 8 The President is His Uncle
When Sharon arrived at the restaurant, Sophie had just arrived as well, and the two met at the entrance, Sophie linked arms with her and they walked into the restaurant together.
Sophie asked, “How was the interview?
Sharon replied, “It felt pretty good, but I don’t know if I’ll get the job.”
Sophie teased, “If not, just look for another company. There are so many pharmaceutical companies in Metropolis. They’d be kicking themselves for letting you slip away.”
Sharon said, “Thank you for believing in me, but it’s been a while since ve been in a lab.”

In drug research and development, experience was highly valued. Besides doing three years of experiments and achieving some results during her graduate studies, Sharon knew she couldn’t compare with those who had been working in the field for years.
Sophie comforted her, “Don’t worry. Once you start working, you’ll catch up quickly.”
After all, Sharon was known for her dedication to experiments, often staying in the lab for a month at a time for results and data.
Sharon asked, “By the way, I heard a man’s voice on the phone last night. What’s the deal with that?”

Sharon stared at her, her tone expressionless. “Sophie, was a man at your place.”
Sophies chooks turned slightly red, knowing she couldn’t avoid it today.
She said, “Alright, I admit it. That man was indeed my boss, and we’re currently dating.”
Hearing her admit it, Sharon didn’t press further. After ordering, they started chatting about everyday life.
As they chatted, Sophie suddenly remembered something. “Oh, speaking of which, I heard the Silvercrest Group is going to invest in Medica Care International Pharmaceuticals. If I remember correctly, the president of the Silvercrest Group, Seb, is Alex’s uncle, right?”
Mentioning Seb, Sharon paused for a moment while drinking water, gripping the cup tighter as the image o Dashed in her mind. The aggressive feeling Seb exuded still made her shiver when she thought about it.
Sharon frowned slightly, forcing herself not to think about it, and responded calmly, “Yes,”

Sophie said, “Have you considered interviewing with another company? After all, if you and Alex get divorced, it would be awkward to see anyone from the Smith family again.“.
Sharon shook her head, put down the water glass, and said, “Even if I join Medica Care International Pharmaceuticals, I’d just be an -ordinary pharmacist. He wouldn’t notice me, and Alex and he don’t get along well.”
Besides, Alex was the one who cheated; it should be the Smith family avoiding herë..
Sophie asked, “Since they don’t get along, could you seek Seb’s help with the divorce?”
Sharon reminded, “No matter how bad their relationship is, they’re still family. Do you think he would help me?”

“You’re right,” Sophie sighed, loking a bit disappointed.
Sharon couldn’t help but smile. “Alright, the divorce can’t be rush

Sophie said, ‘Okay, I’ll take the afternoon off to go house hunting with you.”

Sophie nodded reluctantly. “Just let me know if you need any help. Choose a weekend for the move, and I’ll come to help you.”
Sharon replied. “Don’t worry, I won’t hesitate to ask for your help if I nood IL”
After finishing their meal, Sharon and Sophie said their goodbyes at the restaurant entrance.
Sharon contacted a few real estate agents and viewed several apartments. Her favorite was a one–bedroom unit of over 600 square feet. The apartment’s decor and location were perfect for her, but the rent was a bit high.
Thinking about her bank balance, Sharon ultimately decided to go with a cheaper apartment further from downtown However, she wasn’t in a rush to sign a lease and planned to wait for the interview results from Medica Care International Pharmaceuticals before making a decision
The next day, Sharon received a message from the HR department of Medica Care International Pharmaceuticals. She got the job, although the salary was lower than she had expected. But she couldn’t afford to be picky now. After confirming she could start the following Monday, Sharon quickly contacted the real estate agent.
She signed a one–year lease with the landlord, paying rent every three months. The landlord would cover the property management fees, but she was responsible for the utilities. After paying the rent, Sharon had only a few hundred dollars left in her bank account.
Instead of heading back immediately, she went to the supermarket downstairs to buy some cleaning supplies like a broom and a mop. She then meticulously cleaned the apartment. By the time she finished, it was almost noon, and she was so exhausted she could barely stand up straight. But looking at the freshly cleaned apartment, she felt a great sense of accomplishment.
With nothing planned for the afternoon, she returned to the mansion, only to find Alex sitting in the living room.
Hearing the sound of the door opening, Alex looked up and momentarily stunned.
Sharon, in a light green dress and a high ponytail, embodied elegance with a hint of playfulness. Post–marriage, she often accompanied him to events, adhering to the standards of a wealthy wife. A pajama incident with his mother led to the abandonment of ponytails at home.
He had to admit that this lively Sharon was far more beautiful and captivating than the one constrained by the Smith family.
However, as he felt moved, a wave of unease washed over him, as if the version of her could leave him at any proment.
Alex asked, “Where did you go today? Nanny said you left right after breakfast.”
Sharon’s expression was indifferent as she changed her shoes. “I went job hunting.”
“Which company? Do you want me to contact the boss for you?”
She frowned at him. This is my business. J hope you won’t interfere.”
If he contacted the boss at Medica Care International Pharmaceuticals to get her hired, it would be no different from accepting his arrangement to join the Smith Group. She would still be under his watch
