Chapter 356
Miranda could finally breathe normally again.
She’d been squeezed up and almost run out of air.
Elian’s hugs were just too intense, like he was determined to crush the life out of her.
To be fair, Elian didn’t realize Miranda was uncomfortable. He figured if she really minded, she’d give him a good punch.
Who knew she could endure his bear–like embrace?
If he had known, he’d probably be smugly pleased with himself.
“What are you doing here?” Miranda asked, baffled, glancing back at Hugo and his crew, who looked like they’d just been through a blender. “And why did you beat them up?”
Elian’s lips curled into a grin, his eyes reflecting her image.
“I came to find you, I heard you were meeting them here, so I just showed up,” he replied, frowning slightly. “But why didn’t you try to contact me? Not a single message?”
Miranda awkwardly rubbed her nose. “Well, if you weren’t around, sending a message wouldn’t get a response, would it?”
She hadn’t even thought about it. Besides, Elian had only been away from Zephra for two months, not exactly a long stretch.
But she knew if she said that outright, Elian might throw a fit.
Sometimes he was carefree, but other times he was someone crabby, ready to snap at any moment.
Elian wasn’t pleased. “You could have left a message. I would’ve replied as soon as I saw it. If you’d sent me a message, I’d know you were looking for me.”
The moment he left the base, his first instinct was to check his phone for any news from Miranda.
Seeing not a single message from her, his heart sank.
But then he saw his grandfather’s message, letting him know Miranda had arrived in Virell, which eased his
mind.
Still, the fact that she hadn’t even dropped him a line since coming to Virell left him disgruntled.
Couldn’t she have just messaged him to let him know she was there?
Or at least asked his grandfather about him?
But according to Larry, Miranda hadn’t even asked.
So Elian came straight to find her.
Brian and Aubrey had mentioned something about a girl at the shooting range who’d marvelously wiped the floor with a bunch of trained guys. He’d guessed it was Miranda.
Faced with Elian’s childish behavior in public, Miranda paused.
Then she made a promise. “I’ll definitely do it next time.”
Elian’s eyes gleamed with satisfaction as he heard this assurance.
“That’s more like it.”
Everyone around them was stunned.
The pig must be flying.

They’d just witnessed Mr. Ashcroft acting all cutesy with a woman.
Even Jasper, who loved nothing more than a juicy bit of gossip, thought he must be dreaming.
And he realized something important.
Sebastian couldn’t compete with Elian in this arena.
He didn’t have the gall to act like Elian.
The scary part was, Miranda actually liked it.
“Sebastian, oh Sebastian,” Jasper murmured to himself, “If you don’t step up your game, you’ll have no chance at all.”
Speaking of Sebastian, why was he still abroad?
“You still haven’t told me what you were doing just now.”
Miranda could tell that while the injuries seemed superficial, Elian never held back. Even if they weren’t seriously hurt, they’d still be feeling it.
Elian glanced at Hugo and his crew. “Oh, they just looked like they needed a good beating, so I gave them one.”
The recently pummeled group stayed silent.

Miranda frowned slightly. “They didn’t provoke you, so why beat them up?”
She’d arrived to find Elian in the middle of a brawl, but didn’t know the whole story.
In her opinion, Hugo and his friends were actually quite likable. Since they called her “Master“, she felt the need to look out for them. They couldn’t
just get beaten up without a reason, she thought.
At this point, Hugo and his friends quickly chimed in, scrambling over each other to speak. “Miranda, we’re
used to it.”
“Yeah, we’re used to it. A day without a beating from Mr. Ashcroft just feels wrong.”
“Man, getting whacked by Mr. Ashcroft is just the best!”
“Yeah, it’s another refreshing day!”
“It was all us. Nothing to do with Mr. Ashcroft!”
“Absolutely nothing! We just felt like getting punched, so we went for it!”
Jasper, who had been sipping his drink, did a spit–take.
Brian and Aubrey exchanged glances, completely unfazed by the spectacle.
Seeing how everyone insisted, Miranda nodded. “I don’t get it, but I respect it.”
Then she pulled a small bottle from her pocket and tossed it to Hugo.
“This is for bruises and pain relief. You can take it orally.”
Hugo and his crew exchanged surprised looks.
Elian, however, fixated on the bottle, frowning. “You’re just giving them your medicine like that?”
Miranda was puzzled. “Why not?”
What else was she supposed to do with it? She had more than enough for herself.
It was meant for emergencies anyway.
If they needed it, she’d give it to them.

She still had plenty more.
Elian’s voice turned a bit chilly, tinged with a hint of jealousy. “You’ve never given me your medicine.”
Miranda was left speechless.
