It was clear that Hugo’s little maneuver had left the other side completely dumbfounded.
“Aren’t you afraid they might start a fight?” He asked, concern lacing his voice.
Hugo just waved it off with a nonchalant smile. “You don’t get it. Miranda is like a warrior queen. She’s got the strength of a Valkyrie. Fearsome, really,”
“…” was the only response he got.
Meanwhile, the so–called “Valkyrie” was sitting there calmly, as if the chaos around her was just a mild breeze.
“You came charging at me, didn’t you? You bitch!” Celeste spat, swinging her hand towards Miranda in an attempt to slap her.
But before she could even get close, Celeste’s knee buckled, and she went down hard, face–planting in the middle of the restaurant.
“Ah!” The sound echoed as the high–society beauty made an undignified fall, instantly drawing the attention of onlookers.
It was a sight to behold, and the awkward position she found herself in had people stifling laughs behind their hands.
Though Celeste was wearing sunglasses, some sharp–eyed patrons recognized her from afar.
“Isn’t that Celeste Sterling?”
“Yeah, the one who’s been called the ‘Jewel of the Capital,‘ the untouchable one.”
“Didn’t she get into some trouble recently?”
“Yeah, I heard she got into hot water for spreading false rumors.”
The diners murmured amongst themselves.
Miranda raised an eyebrow, looking at the sprawled–out Celeste. “It’s not Thanksgiving yet, Ms. Sterling, no need to bow down so low.”
Wendy and Sunny exchanged a glance.
Sunny might not know Celeste well, but Wendy sure did.
She chimed in, “Why is Ms. Sterling bowing to our Miranda?”
Celeste struggled to her feet, wobbling on her high heels, the fall having cooled her rage a bit.
She glanced at her knee, where a tiny silver pin had somehow embedded itself.
Pulling it out, she glared at Miranda. “You did this, didn’t you?”
Miranda replied nonchalantly, “Sure did.”
Faced with Miranda’s straightforwardness, Celeste found herself momentarily speechless.
Gaining her composure back, she hissed, “What did you do to them? We’ve known each other for ages, and just because of you, everything’s gone to hell! Miranda, is seducing men your only skill? You’ve got Hugo and the others dancing in circles! Is there anything in that pretty head of yours other than guys? You’re such a fake!”
Celeste was losing it, completely disregarding her usual poise.
She despised Miranda with every fiber of her being, convinced that Miranda had ruined her life, snatched away everything she held dear.
If it weren’t for Miranda, her friends, her career, her reputation wouldn’t have crumbled like this.

“I’ve seen women like you before! But you’re by far the worst, a lowly creature trying to infiltrate our elite
circles!”
Miranda just looked at her, a small smirk playing on her lips. “Finished your rant?”
Wendy frowned, stepping in.
“Wow, talk about twisting the story, huh?”
“What did you just say!?”
Just as Celeste shouted, Miranda coolly tossed her drink at her.
Celeste’s face was now sticky with soda, her expression turning even uglier.
“Consider this a minor payback, out of respect for your family,” Miranda said calmly. “As for you, you’re just trash.”
At that moment, several security guards rushed in.
Without a word, they grabbed Celeste and began dragging her out.
Celeste saw they were her family’s guards and was both shocked and furious. “What are you doing? Teach her a lesson! What are you waiting for?”
“Miranda! You wretched woman, just you wait!”
One of the guards, seemingly the leader, approached Miranda and bowed respectfully.
“Ms. Lancaster, I apologize. Our young lady hasn’t been herself lately. Sorry for the trouble.” He produced a check from his pocket.
“This is a token of apology from our master. Please accept it.”
Miranda hesitated but eventually accepted it.
The guard remained bent, waiting patiently.
Finally, Miranda took the check, “I’ll take it, but if your young lady’s manners don’t improve, well, consider this payment for her education.”
