Chapter 2
Werewolves and witches have been at war for centuries.
So many lives have been lost in the war, but the BlueRivers Packand AmaQuire Coven put an end to it when Alistair and I
fell in love two years ago,
Alistair’s family is the royal family of the BlueRivers Pack and I’m a witch from the AmaQuire coven.
We fell in love and despite all the hurdles, hatred and opposition from our families, we got married, putting an end to the long lasting war between our kind.
I thought we would be in love forever. I guess I was wrong.
The past thirty minutes have been a blur. I refused to sign the divorce papers and Alistair threw me out of his office with the threat that he’ll get me to sign it even if it meant that he has to hurt me in the process,
He even asked the guards downstairs to make sure I did not linger behind in his premises. I was thrown out of the company like a common thief.
After calling my best friend to pick me up, I walk aimlessly down the street as the clouds gradually become darker and darker.
Ten minutes later, the first raindrop lands on my bare shoulder minute later, the sky opens and the rain starts pouring in
Torchis.
At that exact moment, I burst into tears. I’ve tried to hold it in for too long. I’ve tried to be strong but I’m broken and hurt. I can’t take it anymore. I cry until my head, eyes and my tummy start to hurt. I cry until I feel numb.
Suddenly, I hear the smooth honk of a car behind me and turn around quickly, thinking it’s my best friend. Unfortunately,
it’s not
My bestie drives a raggedy Volvo. The car before me is a black, sleek and no–doubt expensive Bugatti.
I shake my head and turn to continue my aimless journey, but suddenly, the deepest baritone I’ve ever heard has me stopping in my tracks.
“Miss, where are you going in the rain? The cold isn’t good for you or your baby.”
I turn around again and come face–to–face with the most gorgeous man I’ve ever seen.
His dark, obsidian eyes look like they can see straight into my soul. He steps away from the car and comes towards me in the pouring rain. Not only is he gorgeous, he’s so tall that I have to crank my head upwards to see his face.
“Did you hear me? Where are you going? Why are you out here alone?”
I open my mouth to speak, but suddenly, a sharp, burning pain erupts in my womb and I double over, clutching my belly.
“Ah! It hurts.
“We need to get you out of here.” The stranger says urgently. He takes a step towards rue but I stumble backwards, silently asking him to keep his distance.
Yes, he’s sexy–as–the–devil, but he could be a kidnapper or a mafia ritualist.
“Stay away from me.” I groan.
I try to stand up but another blast of pain shoots through my lower belly, causing me to almost fall over. I shut my eyes

tight, expecting to hit the ground, but in a split second, strong as wrap around my waist and I’in instantly cradled around a heated, brick wall of a chest.
I try to step back but he refuses to let go.
“Don’t move. We need to get you to the hospital.”
The pain comes again, sharper this time. I give ups and let him hold me while I try to hold back my tears
“Please, help me. I think my baby is coming
“Fuck.”
The stranger swings into action immediately. He gently lifts and places me on the buttery leather seat of his car. Less than a minute later, we’re speeding down the freeway.
“Just try to stay calm. There should be a hospital around here.”
“Call my husband.” I mutter weakly. “Please call my husband.”
The air in the car becomes icy the moment I mention my husband, but I’m in too much pain to notice
“What’s your husband’s number?” The stranger asks coldly.
I rattle off a string of numbers and seconds later, I hear the dial tone.
Alistair answers on the second ring.
“Hello, who’s this?”
“You don’t need to know my name but I’m with your wife right now and she’s gone into labour. I need you
“If you called me concerning that whore, Amaya, then please stop wasting my time.” Alistair cuts in coldly.
“She’s no longer my responsibility and I don’t care what you do with her. Goodbye.”
Before the stranger can reply, the line goes dead.
- 10.
I sit there for a few seconds, trying to sort out the piercing pain that festers in my heart. The stranger doesn’t say anything for the next few seconds. Not a single word.
“Stay calm. We’re almost there.” He finally says.
We finally arrive at the hospital minutes later and by then, I’m already bleeding profusely.
“Come on, we have to go.” The stranger says as he picks me into his arms.
I wince at all the blood I’ve left on his expensive leather seat but he doesn’t even blink in annoyance.
“I’ll stain you.” I argue, trying to struggle to my feet. “Your suit will get ruined.”
He gives me a hard look and growls:
“I don’t give a fuck about the suit. You’re all I care about..”
Those words shock me into silence.
The next few minutes are a blur as he runs into the hospital and shouts
is at the nurses to help me.

The last words I hear before wheeled into the operating room is the stranger’s sexy–as–hell barline, and he said;
I’m
“Take care of her. If anything goes wrong, I will have all your heads…”
FIVE HOURS LATER.
“Come on, Amaya, I know you can do it. The doctor says softly Please push for me one last time..”
After five hours of excruciating pain and agony; the cries of a newborn baby finally pierce the air.
Or should I say, new born babies.
“Congratulations, ma’am, you’ve successfully birthed three healtby babies!“The doctor announces happily.
We’re all covered in blood, sweat and grime. I think I even vomited twice, but looking at my triplets cradled in my arms, I’ve never felt any better.
But alas, the Moon goddess is not done punishing me,
“Um, Mrs. Amaya?” The doctor says suddenly.
My eyes fly open.
Doctor?”
“I’m afraid I have bad news.”
My stomach tightens with dread.
“Bad news? What is it?”
He lowers his head and when he spea
his voice is solemn;
“Tin really sorry, ma’am, but one of the babies did not make it. We just confirmed that one of them was still born. Despite all our efforts, we haven’t been able to revive him.
We’re very sorry.
ma’am”
1 clutch the sheets tightly as a sharp, stinging pain explodes deep in my chest. For a moment, I can’t speak, I can’t even cry.
If I was broken before, I’m shattered now. I press my fingers against my eyes and try to stop my tears from falling. I honestly can’t take it anymore. I’m exhausted.
Sensing my
bad mood, the nurses leave the room with my surviving babies to give me some space.
I can’t even hold my babies because of the fear of breaking down
The first tears have just rolled down my checks when the door opens and the stranger from earlier comes striding in like he owns the place.
I blink in surprise, my tears momentarily forgotten. “What are you doing here?”
A nurse barges in after him.
“Sir, please, only family members are allowed. You need to leave

Wait, what?
The nurse’s eyes widen in shock and steps back immediately;
“I’m so sorry, sir. Please go ahead.”
“Wait..” before I can refute his claims, she’s already gone.
I’m not surprised at her ignorance. A lot of people still aren’t aware that Alistair and I are married because our marriage was done hush–hush.
I’m already simmering in annoyance as the stranger stalks closer
Goddess, it should be illegal for a man to be this gorgeous.
“What just happened?” I ask, lifting one brow
He stops beside my bed and my heartbeat goes into overdrive as the delicious scent of his cologne slips into my nostrils.
“You’re my responsibility. I wanted to see if you’re okay.”
I open my mouth to say something but the door slams open once again and this time, my worst nightmare walks through.
Alistair’s mother and my mother–in–law, Stephanie Blackwell.
Her lips are already twisted in a frown and her eyes are filled with disgust as she takes one look at me and the man by my
side.
“My son was right.” She sneers. You’re really a whore, aren’t you? He barely decided to divorce you and you’ve already gone running to one of your numerous men.”
There’s no “how are you doing?” Or “how’s the babies?” Just abuse.
I wish I was surprised but I’m used to it. Alistair’s mother hated me from the moment we started dating because I didn’t come from a prestigious werewolf family. Deep down, I knew she never wanted us to get married.
I take a deep breath, trying to cool my stinging nerves.
“I just gave birth, mother. I’m exhausted. Is there a problem?”
She scoffs
“I’m not your mother. Alistair informed me that you’ve refused to sign the divorce papers. Why? What are you waiting for!”
I shake my head in utter disbelief.
“Your grandchildren are in the incubator, mother. Won’t you at least see them?”
“When will you sign the papers, Amaya?!” She snaps, completely ignoring any topic about her grandkids.
I clench my fingers, trying to keep my anger at bay.
