Chapter 21
AMAYA
Caesar pulls me out of the room and refuses to release me, despite all my attempts to free myself from his grip.
“Let go, Caesar. Let go of mel
Thankfully, Jayla comes to my rescue. She steps in front of Caesar, blocking his path.
“She asked you to let go. Can’t you hear her?”
Caesar comes to a stop and I struggle without success to free myself.
“Get out of my way, Jayla.” He says through gritted teeth.
The anger in his tone is sharp, palpable. It surprises me. Why is he so upset?
“No!” Jayla snaps, tilting ter head stubbornly. “I’m not going anywhere until you release my friend.”
“Fine. Caeir says calmly. Too calmly.
“Harden?”
“Yes/boss.”
I blink in surprise as a tall giant of a bodyguard dressed all in black appears out of nowhere.
“Take Miss Jayla to the car and drive her back to the penthouse. Idon’t need her interfering in our conversation.”
boss.”
“You’ve got i
The guard advances towards Jayla who holds out her hands towards him, trying to stop him from coming closer. “Stay where you are! Don’t touch me. Don’t bloody touch me!”
All her screaming is however ignored as the guard hefts her into his arms like she weighs nothing more than a sack of potatoes and proceeds to carry her out of the Blackwell mansion kicking and screaming
“Jayla!” I yell, frantically trying to escape Caesar who keeps me tightly pinned against his chest. “Bring her back right this instant! Let go of me!”
Seconds later, I feel Caesar’s hot lips against my ear and freeze as shivers wrack my frame.
“It’s useless to waste your breath screaming, Amaya. You’re coming with me and that’s not debatable…”
Fifteen minutes later, Caesar literally bundles me into his car and gets behind the wheel, his face etched in a grimace.
The rage in my bloodstream has not abated either.
“If you don’t release me right this instant, I’ll jump out of this bloody car!”
The fact that he says nothing to acknowledge my threat infuriates me even further. Caesar silently puts the car in “drive” and within seconds, we’ve left the Blackwell mansion and are speeding down the freeway
“I’m not joking.” I wam, grabbing the door handle. “I’ll really jump.”

Chapter 21
“Just in case you’re not aware, you’re currently seated in a Koenigsegg. Only two people own this car in the Blue Rivers Pack. The other one belongs to my best friend, but I digress.
This car has been dubbed globally as one of the fastest in the world” He shoots me a very icy glare.
“Pulling open that door right now will amount to
mitting suicide, because you will never survive the fall. And then what
will happen to your kids? It’s bad enough that they’ve got a dead eat father. Do you want them to become completely orphaned?” He makes his argument with such cold, calm precision, further triggering my anger.
I fold my fingers into fists and give him a death glare, quietly accepting defeat.
“There’s no winning with you, is there?”
“The earlier you accept that I’m always right, the better for you
I lift my chin. “I’m afraid you’ve met your match, Mr. Caesar. I’m nothing like those girls who are all too willing to kiss your
He shrugs. “You’re right. A lot of girls are indeed willing to kiss my arse, if you know what I mean.
The double entendre of his words dawn on me and my cheeks redden furiously.
“Where are you taking me?” I ask, in a hurry to change the subject.
“Depends. Have you decided to marry me yet?”
barely stop myself from growling at him. “After you falsely accused me and canceled the marriage contract with your own words? I don’t think so.”
His perfectly chiseled jaw flexes in annoyance..
“Okay, then. Let’s see if you change your mind by the end of the day.”
1 clamp my mouth shut to stop myself from screaming out my lungs at him. Ten minutes later, I sit up abruptly.
“Wait. This is the road to the hospital. Why are we going there?
He doesn’t even look at me when he says:
“I promised Michaela that I’d come by to see her after my meeting this afternoon. I don’t want you to wander off and disappear while I’m with her when we haven’t spoken about the wedding yet… so we’re going to see her together.”
I’m awfully quiet after that. Because I have no idea how to feel about going to see Caesar’s daughter.
Michaela was an absolute sweetheart the last time I saw her. I’m the problem here, not her. I cannot trust myself not to burst into ugly tears if she’s suffering or in too much pain
“You should’ve told me first.” I say quietly, sounding absolutely panicked.
Caesar’s eyes burn into the side of my face.
“Why? Don’t you want to see her?”
Shit. He sounds hurt.
I swallow nervously, deciding to be honest.
“It’s not that. I just don’t trust myself to remain composed if she’s in pain.”

Caesar’s intense stare might cause me to melt into the sears of more focused on me than on the road.
“Is that the only problem?”
loui rar any moment now. At this print.
“Well then. We’re in luck. The doctors said that Michaela is doing much, much better. She’ll be happy to see you.”
A few minutes later, we arrive at the hospital.
if the nurses are surprised that a sexy hunk of a man is literally pulling a nervous–looking woman behind him, they do not
show it.
My heart is literally on the verge of bursting out of my chest when we arrive at the door to Michaela’s ward.
I’ve never seen someone flow from one mood to another the way Caesar Manchester does it. He was cold and quier a second ago, now, his expressionblazes with warmth:
He pauses ift front of the door, turns around and releases my arm.
“I’ll just go in and tell her that you’re here. Don’t run away. Okay?”
