Chapter 26

The first thing I notice when I step into the large, airy office is the fact that instead of sitting at his table, the CEO is seated on a chair that faces the floor–to–ceiling windows.
My heart thuds wildly in my chest as I take in the broad expanse of his shoulders and his long legs spread out before the swiveling chair. He looks exactly like Caesar from my viewpoint. If not for his dirty blonde hair, I’d believe he was actually
Caesar.
‘Stop thinking about Caesar, for goodness sakes, a voice scream inside my brain.
I’d expected the CEO of Macpherson Engineering to be some grossly educated, old gentleman- because there’s a portrait of a grossly educated, old gentleman hanging at the reception. Must be the grandfather.
I sure as hell did not expect a man who looks like he’s spent years building every man’s dream body in the gym to be the
CEO.
He doesn’t pay me any attention as I slowly walk into the luxuriously furnished office and stop just inside the door.
When a full minute passes and his attention is still fixed on the iPad in front of him, I clear my the boldness I can muster;
throat and speak

“Hello, sir. My
“Amaya Miller. Yes, I know you.”
His voice. I guess a smoking hot, ripped body is not all that he and Caesar have in common. His voice is dark and smooth, just like Caesar’s. It reminds me of chocolate, the bitter sweet kind
“Yes, sir…” I have no idea what to say next. I clamp my lips shut and keep waiting for him to turn to me or even say something else to me. He doesn’t. Instead, he keeps me waiting there for what feels like an eternity.
By the time ten minutes roll by, my feet start to hurt in my stilettos and annoyance slowly unfurls deep in my chest.
“I’ll give him five more minutes.” I mutter under my breath, glancing at my watch.

Within those five minutes, the atmosphere in the room is that opportunity to take in the office’s decor.
The CEO seems to be a fan of guns and pistols. There’s an impressive and very expensive–looking collection of rare edition guns protected with boxes of glass on the walls
I’d be surprised at the weird collection, but Jayla is also strangely addicted to guns. Scratch that. She’s obsessed with anything that’s capable of shooting
Five minutes finally roll by and I decide that I’ll no longer keep silent and endure this. I have to do something
“Sir, I’m here for the interview. Misha asked me.”
He lifts a single finger, still scrolling through his iPad with his second hand, and I fall silent.
“I know who you are and I know why you’re here.” He says calmly

I wait for him to say mime and when he doesn’t, I finally stap.
“My apologies, sir, but I’ve been waiting for more than fifteen minutes. Is there a problem?”
Suddenly, he turns in his seat and I blink in awe as my eyes rove over his
Π
-bis morgeous, gorgeous face.
It’s clear from his scent that he’s a werewolf, but nothing prepar ine for the sight of his thick, dirty blonde hair hanging wer his forehead like he just rolled out of bed or he’s run his fingers through the curls a tad too often. Nothing prepares me
his bright, glassy, blue eyes for the sight of his sleek, angular jaw, those heart–red lips, and the icing on the cake-
This man gives off a mix of the dark knight and college boyfriend vibe so effortlessly, it might as well be one of his talents.
1 realize that I’m staring when I hear him say:
“I guess he was right. You are stubborn after all.”
I snap out of my daze immediately, my cheeks heating with self–awareness when I notice that he’s staring intently at me.
“What?”
Did I forget to mention
that he wears glasses? There’s a thin, black pair of glasses seated on the bridge of his nose. If anything, it adds to the whole aristocratic vibe he’s got going on
“Hello, Amaya. My name is Solomon Macpherson. CEO of Macpherson Engineering.”
I nod slowly, temporarily unable to unglue my tongue from the roof of my mouth. I now realize why all of the workers I’ve seen here so far are so perfect in both looks and appearance. It’s because their boss resembles some fallen Angel badboy. Everyone else has to keep up.
“Um….
nice to meet
you, too.” I stutter.
“It doesn’t seem like it.” He growls in response, gesturing at the chair beside me; “please sit down.”
I sink into the chair immediately.
“I apologize for wasting your time. I was waiting for my associate He’ll be here any minute now.”
I frown, wondering why he’d be waiting for an associate to join in an interview.
“That’s okay. Will he be a part of the interview panel?” I ask tentatively.
Misha never mentioned that anyone would be conducting the interview aside from the CEO. Or did she?
Mr. Solomon remains silent for a while as he assesses me with a bright, unnerving stare.
“Yes, infact, he will. He’s told me a lot about you.”
1 freeze, not sure I’ve heard right. “What? I don’t understand, sir..
He nods. “When he gets here, you’ll understand.”
I’m about to say something more when a dinging sound suddenly fills the room, indicating that someone just got off the private elevator.
Solomon’s lips lift in a very suspicious smile. “Speak of the actual devil. He’s here.”
I don’t know why, but something urges me to get to my feet the moment I hear someone turn the knob. My stomach is knotted and jittery with nerves as I watch the door swing open and a TomFord clad foot appears through the door.

Chapter 26
Finally, Mr. Solomon’s associate makes his entrance, I take one look at him and my brain whirls with a terrifying combination of horror, shock and surprise.
Oh, no. What the hell is he doing here?
