CAESAR
1 lift a finger and Jayla stops talking immediately. Knowing her smart mouth, she probably wants to argue further but my expression stops her.
“What’s wrong, Caesar?” She asks worriedly. “What’s going on?”
“I can hear her.” I’m shocked, confused, and exasperated. I’ve never experienced anything like this before.
Jayla comes closer, her brows furrowed in a frown. “What do you mean? Who can you hear?”
I hold her gaze. “Amaya. I can hear her.”
For a moment, Jayla seems surprised. Then her eyes widen in realization.
“Hold up, you can hear her? Does this mean that you two are…mites?”
I hesitate, not sure if I should tell her anything yet. The feeling of having a mate is still too new to me, too fragile. I want to keep it to myself for a little while longer.
As if reading my mind, Jayla frowns:
“Don’t you dare lie to me, Caesar? I want the truth. Is Amaya your mate?”
1 inhale sharply and respond;
“Yes, she is. I just found out today. She’s in trouble and I need to find her.”
I swing into action immediately, running down the hall at full speed.
“Wait, Caesar! If she’s really your mate, you can use the mating bond to find her!” Jayla calls after me.
That stops me in my tracks. “But I haven’t bitten her yet. I need to mark her and drink from her for the bond to work.” Jayla’s already shaking her head as she comes to a stop beside me, completely out of breath from sprinting to catch up. “We can never be too certain, can we? Just shut your eyes and concentrate, Caesar. You’ll find her.”
And I do just that without hesitation. I shut my eyes tightly and try to get in sync with my wolf, filtering out all of the noise from the outside world.
We need to find our mate. I say in my mind. ‘She’s in danger. We need to find her.”
I can feel my wolf pace and prance within me, begging to be set free. Begging to run free and find its mate.
I focus a little more, and I’m rewarded with a vision that’s so quick, it’s almost a flash. But even in its quickness, I’m still able to get something that might help in our search.
I open my eyes to find Jayla staring at me expectantly.
“I saw something.
She lets out a gasp and comes closer,
“Really? What was it?”
Chapter 41
“I saw a single lotus flowering Amaya’s dressing suite.”
Jayla’s eyes narrow in confusion but I don’t have the luxury of waiting for lier to understand my statement.
I turn around and run towards the dressing suite like my tail is on fire.
We arrive at the dressing suite seconds later and just like Jayla said, it’s locked.
I kick my foot against it just to make sure..
I find it quite weird that the entire atmosphere is strangely silent, Was the vision a trick? Is Amaya really in there?
I place an open palm against the door to check if I can still feel the mating bond. I feel nothing. Nada. Zilch.
“Are you sure she’s in there?” Jayla asks worriedly when I start taking off my suit.
“The vision brought me here. The Moon goddess does not play games. She should be here.”
I let my suit fall to the ground and start pounding at the door, channeling all my strength towards breaking it down.
Thankfully, a minute later, Solomon shows
sup.
“I’ve been looking everywhere for you, man. What’s going on?”
notice how he and Jayla do not bother acknowledging one another, but I’m too occupied to comment.
“Ammaya’s missing.” I growl as I push my shirt sleeves up my arms “Take off your suit and help me.”
Solomon shrugs off his designer suit and drops it on the ground beside mine without hesitation, then he joins me in hitting and kicking at the door.
With the force of our combined werewolf strengths, the door is hanging off its hinges within seconds.
I rush inside the room and my
heart t runs cold at the sight that greets me.
“Oh, goddess,” Jayla whispers behind me, her voice thick with tears. “No, please. No..”
I’m frozen to the spot for a moment, unable to comprehend the disaster before me. Jayla whizzes past me and falls on her knees beside Amaya, already crying her eyes out.
“Amaya, what happened to you? What happened?!”
Amaya is currently lying on the floor with half of her wedding dress torn in rather obscene places. Her entire face is streaked with mascara and tears, and she seems to be in a daze.
My shock and confusion gradually morphs into raw, mind–consuming rage. Beside me, my fingers are curled into tight fists and deep within me, my wolf is howling as the gravity of the situation suddenly dawns on me.
Someone assaulted my wife when I was just a few meters away. Someone dared to come into my territory and touch what is mine.
I can smell it now, the fear, the despair. The scent of fear hangs in the air like poison, clinging to my clothes and skin.
Without uttering a word, I walk out of the room, pick up my jacket from the ground and walk back towards the two crying women huddled on the floor.
No. Only Jayla is crying. Amaya seems frozen. Dazed

Chapter 41
I try to cover her up with the jacket but she flinches away from the, choosing to cower beneath Jayla’s arm.
“Please, don’t touch me.” She whispers pitifully. “I’ll come with you. Just p–please, don’t h–hurt me. P–please..”
I was angry before, but now, my heart is broken. I go down on my knees beside her and gently cover her with the suit, trying hard to stop myself from going on a blood shedding spree when she continues to tremble and beg
I notice the red streaks on her bare arms, shoulders and neck. They’re hand marks, and from their slightly swollen nature, whoever did it had kept her captive for a while.
The blood in my veins turn icy when I notice her naked behind where the brainless creature had torn her dress. Her arse is red, too. Did he hit her? Rape her? The possibilities are endless.
Solomon suddenly clears his throat above me. When I look up, he has his suit stretched in my direction, respectfully keeping his averted from my wife’s reddened behind.
“Who did this to you, firefly? I growl in the most same voice I can muster, which still sounds like I have a beef with the devil himself.
“I just need a name. Give me a name, Firefly. Who did this?”
She curls into herself and shakes her head. It’s clear that whoever did this traumatized her to the point of making her scared of him.
My finger brushes against her arm and she lurches violently, moving away from my touch,
“Don’t t–touch me. Please. P–please-
She’s still crying, and with every tear that falls from her eyes, my wolf silently promises to get revenge.
Suddenly, Solomon grabs my arm.
“Caesar, I’ve already called the police, but our guards at the gate just sent information that they successfully chased and captured a strange driver in the estate. He has no invitation to the wedding and cannot seem to explain how he got in.”
My blood boils with fury. “Good. A scapegoat. Ask Gabriel to take him to The Shed and start questioning. I’ll be there soon

the time the medics arrive, Amaya seems a bit more stabilized, but she still refuses to talk to or even look at me. And that hurts like hell for reasons I do not care to explore right now.
I follow the ambulance to the hospital in my car and wait until she’s been examined. When the doctor exits her ward an hour later, I’m already up and ready to get information.
“Doctor, how’s my wife?” Solomon stands beside me, silently lending his support.
The doctor’s expression is grim. Ice settles at the pit of my stomach.
“Come with me to the office, Alpha
Caesar.
I’m not surprised that the doctor addresses me by my rank. He’s also a wolf of the BlueRivers Pack.
Once at his office. I ask urgently:
“What’s her condition, doctor?”
He doesn’t bother offering me a seat. I’m way past
that point.
