Chapter 47
AMANI
Caesar and I argue about the bedroom arrangement for thirty minutes straight.
Well, I argue. He just stands there and stares at me with a cool, calm and collected expression that makes me both annoyed and nervous at the same time.
“Are you even listening to me?”
He nods. “I heard every single word. I’ll always listen to you, Firefly.”
I was just about to say more but that last statement has me pausing with my mouth half open.
Caesar takes one look at my expression and his lips curve in a small smirk. I shake my head, totally exasperated at this point;
“You’re not gonna do anything about the bedroom arrangement, are you?”
In response, he turns around and makes his way to the bedroom in question; “It’s good to know that you learn fast, Firefly.”
“Where are you going!” I call after him.
He throws a look at me over his shoulder.
To take a bath. Some of us actually know that we’re supposed to bathe after a long journey before touching any food.”
My cheeks redden in embarrassment, but I sit back down on the sofa and grab another piece of crab leg.
What? I’m starving.
Caesar takes a considerable amount of time in the shower. By the time he’s done, I’ve eaten a bit more, cleared away the food and put the leftovers in the refrigerator, then made a video call with Jayla and take her on a little virtual apartment
Tour.
I’m pretty sure she’s more excited about this entire arrangement than I am.
Thirty minutes later, my wolf perks up, sensing a presence in the room. When I look up, my mouth runs dry.
If I thought Caesar Manchester was handsome before, he’s definitely gorgeous now because he’s shirtless.
The only piece of clothing on him is the towel around his waist. His dark hair falls to his shoulders in curly, wet tendrils. His body is a sculptor’s dream, all well–defined muscles and rock hard abs. He didn’t dry off properly because there are beads of water on his chest and arms.
It stuns me to realize that I wouldn’t mind being one of those beads right about now. But anyways, I digress.
All the wonderful features I’ve described above are not the reason my sex is currently clenching at the sight of this man. The main reason is his tattoos. Yes, Caesar Manchester has tattoos. His entire chest is covered with a tattoo of a large, two- headed, fire breathing dragon
My eyes narrow when I realize that I’ve
e seen t
that dragon somewhere. But where?
“Are you done staring, Firefly?” His calm voice pierces the air.
I snap back to the present and take a step backwards like I’ve been caught stealing something.

“I wasn’t staring”
Caesar nods, his face etched with disbelief. “Sure, you weren’t”
I fist my fingers, annoyed that I let myself go like that.
“Uh.. what are you doing here?”
Just then, the doorbell rings. “That’s what.”
874%
I watch in confusion as he opens the door and receives a package from one of the staff. And yes, my chest tightens with jealousy when she runs her eyes over his naked body.
Get a grip. Amaya!
Caesar places the cloth bag on the table and turns to me.
“These are our outfits for the day”
I pause. “Huh?”
we two sets of white clothes from the bag and cut off the price tag.
My confusion mounts as I watch him carefully remove
“Uh… you got us matching outfits?”
“Yes” He replies simply, not bothering to deny it. “Couples on TikTok wear matching outfits, no?”
What?
“You watch videos on TikTok?”
This entire situation is becoming more and more surreal by the second.
He shrugs. “Started recently.”
“And you think it’s a good idea for us to wear matching outfits?” I don’t know how I feel about this, to be very honest. “Look. Caesar, the couples on TikTok who wear those outfits are happy and in love. Their marriages are not contracts of convenience like ours. We don’t have to act like they do.
Caesar’s dark eyes darken even further and he growls:
“Who says it’s an act? Put the dress on and get ready. We’re leaving in the next twenty minutes.”
உ
Twenty minutes later, Caesar and I are being escorted to our car by one of the hotel’s security, dressed up and looking all lovey dovey in our matching white outfits.
His consists of a white beach shirt, white shorts and white sneakers, while mine is a short white dress and black beach. sandals, From afar, we look totally happy and completely in love. All lies. All a façade.
Where are we going?” I ask.
“The Grand Central Mall.” Caesar replies, “You should find everything you need there. I also want to buy a few things”
find
The trip to the mall is long and uncomfortable, mostly because I’m still confused as hell over the whole outfit issue. Caesar is engrossed with his iPad while my eyes are glued to the window until he clears his throat, drawing my attention. I tur him holding up a black credit card.

I blink at him: “is that Diamond card?”
He nods. “It’s yours. Buy whatever you want at the store today. There’s no limit. If you see something and your heart so much as yearns for it, buy it. No questions asked.”
Okay, now I’m convinced that something is definitely going on. My expression is probably radiating shock as I stare at Caesar. My wolf is equally confused, although a part of her is happy at the thought of being spoiled by this man.
“You really don’t have to do this, Caesar. There’s no need, and…
His eyes narrow to slits. “You’re my wife now.” He says, his tone almost fierce. “You’re my responsibility. It’s my duty to take care of you. Besides, I’m rich and I’m not complaining
My stomach heats with a pleasant sensation: “you’re already doing enough for me by paying for my son’s treatment. I don’t want to use you…..
“Use me, Amaya. If you feel that buying a bunch of stuff means you’re using me, then use me.”
Caesar successfully shoved the credit card into my hand before we arrive at the mall, but his words still ring in my mind like a repetitive siren:
“If you feel that buying a bunch of stuff means you’re using me, then use me.”
Oh, goddess. I feel like my brain is about to explode. What the heck is going on??!!!! First, he wanted us to sit together on the plane. Then the matching outfits. Now, the credit card. What else is lurking in the corners?
We barely take more than a few steps into the luxurious boutique when I hear a very familiar voice in front of me,
“Hello and welcome to the Grand Central Mall. I’ll be your personal shopper and assistant for the day.”
I look up and standing there with that annoying, plastic smile is Nadine.
