As Nadine stands there, staring at me, all that runs through my mind is the fact that she’s slept with Caesar. And it leaves an ugly taste in my throat.

Fuming with rage, before Caesar can respond, I already cut in;
“Are you selectively blind or does your boutique only welcome husbands and not their wives?” My voice is ice cold and without an iota of emotion.
Nadine freezes for a second, then she turns to me and I can see the burning rage in her eyes before she replaces it with a very fake smile;
“Why, hello there, Mrs. Manchester.” She almost chokes on the word.
“My apologies. I actually wanted to welcome a paying customer first.”

I was never much of a shopper even when I was married to Alistair. A personal shopper did all the work. Now, I’m just confused as hell on what to get for myself.
Sensing my confusion, Caesar thankfully interrupts, taking charge of the entire situation with a powerful aura that leaves me utterly captivated.
“We need dresses, shoes and bags.” He turns to me; “what kind of colours do you like?”
“Any color is okay actually. But nothing too bright.”
Caesar lifts a brow at me and heat floods my belly. “Any colour but nothing too bright? Technically, that doesn’t mean ‘any colour, but whatever my wife wants”
He turns to Nadine and his tone becomes hard and cold; “you heard her. Show us designer outfits in warm colors only.”

Her eyes flash with jealousy but she masks it and steps back to being the clothes. Barely a second later, a child–like voice says from behind me:
“Mom, I thought we didn’t sell dresses for people her size.”
Shocked. I turn to find a child whom I believe is not more than seven years old, staring at me with complete disdain. Her blonde hair, exactly like Nadine’s, is in a tight ponytail, and her skirt is way too short for a seven year old.
“What did you say?” Caesar asks, taking a threatening step in her direction.
I grab his sleeves to hold him back.
The little girl flips her long ponytail over one shoulder, lifts her din and folds her arms,
“I’m sorry, mister, but your wife is a bit overweight. My mommy’s store does not cater to fat women.”
I know she’s just a child and I shouldn’t take her hurtful words to heart, but I’ve been suffering from postpartum depression for a while now, and this just makes it worse. Beside me, Caesar bristles with anger. When he speaks, his voice is low and clipped.
“I’d have you know that my wife just gave birth to very beautiful babies and I see absolutely nothing wrong She’s beautiful just the way she is. In fact, she’s the most beautiful woman in the world.”

Okay, I think I may have forgotten how to breathe. My heart is galloping at a fast pace and my wolf is dancing inside of me. all warm and gooey with happiness. Tears prick my eyes but I blink it back. This man does very confusing things to my insides.
My happy bubble bursts, however, when the little girl sneers;
“Stop lying just to make her feel better. She’s ugly and overweight. Instead, send her to the gym or something.”
Her words hit me right on the heart with the force of a sledgehammer. I’m pretty sure it leaves a sear.
Yes, I know I added a few pounds during the course of my pregnancy which I’m trying to lose soon, but children are known to be blatantly honest, and hearing a child say those words hurts me to the core.
“Brianna! There you are!” Nadine suddenly appears out of nowhere and goes to stand beside the little girl, wrapping one arm around her shoulder.
“Mommy has been looking for you everywhere, my little princess. What are you doing?”
I look between Nadine and Brianna, blinking in shock. The resemblance is there and definitely striking. Brianna is Nadine’s daughter.
Which means that Nadine owns this luxurious store. Why the hell is she working as an air hostess when she has a store worth billions of dollars?
“Hi. mom. I was just informing these customers too overweight for the clothes we have here.”

“Brianna!” Nadine exclaims, slapping a hand over the girl’s mouth. “Oh, my. How can you say such horrible things?”

Judging from the gleam in Nadine’s eyes, it’s clear that she’s not sorry for shit Deciding not to seem bothered even if hurt inside, I wave it off.

The smile on Nadine 3 Tace disappears immediately.
“What exactly do you mean by that? I already apologized on her behalf
“Yes, you did. But I don’t hear you telling her that she said was wong. I don’t hear you telling her not to say it to someone else. I definitely do not hear you asking her to apologize. It’s quite obvious where she gets her attitude from.”
“How can you speak about my daughter in that manner?” Nading squeals, stomping her foot like a petulant child. Suddenly, she runs to Caesar and grabs his arm: “Caesar, did you hear what your wife said to me? That’s rude and unfair.”
My heart boils with a mixture of rage and anger as I watch her literally rub her entire body against Caesar like a cat in heat. When it’s been ten seconds and he still doesn’t push her away or say anything in my defense, I walk up to him and place his black diamond credit card inside the pocket of his t–shirt.
My eyes
eyes burn with tears, but I simply take a deep breath and hold his cold–eyed stare;
“I will not continue to stand here and endure such disrespect, Caesar. I’m leaving. You can keep your credit card.”
Then I turn around andwalk away, grateful that my tears only start falling after I’ve left the store.
Caesar does not follow me out of the store. Not that I expected him to choose me over the beautiful Nadine.
I pause just outside, contemplating if to just admit defeat and wait inside his car, or find my way back to the hotel by myself. My pride finally wins and I turn around and walk in the opposite direction of the car.
I’ve barely taken three steps when I hear a familiar voice behind me.
“Ma’am! Ma’am!!”
I turn around just in time to catch Caesar’s driver running towards me. Should I run? Should I wait? Before I can make up my mind, the young man is already right in front of me.
“Ma’am, where are you going? Where’s the boss?”
I inhale sharply, “Your boss is still inside the boutique. I’m going for a walk.”
Town eves narrow in confusion.
“Without the boss? I’m sorry.

Anger shoots through my veins.
“Look, I understand that you’re doing your job, but I’m your boss, too, am I not?”
He lowers his head, suddenly looking uneasy. “Yes, ma’am. You are.”
“Good. I’m ordering you to let me leave. I’ll return to the hotel later this evening.”
I walk away immediately, expecting him to follow after me and shocked when he doesn’t. I guess it worked.
I have no idea where I’m going, but the Maldives is beautiful, the weather is gorgeous and I just walk and keep walking until my feet start to hurt. I’m hungry, too.
I pass by a group of pretty little kids playing with a skipping rope and hear one of them say,
“Wow, she’s so beautiful.”

I turn and my heart swells with happiness when I see all of the staring at me in awe, It’s a balm to my soul after Brianna all but called me a troll.
I wave to them and they wave back. I blink in shock when they all hurry towards me, giggling and smiling
“Hello, my sweethearts.” I greet them excitedly, trying not to get overwhelmed. “How are you all doing?”
A chorus of “fine, thank you’s” rent the air. Such polite children,
“Where are you going?” One of them, a dark haired girl asks.
I recall the happenings of the past few minutes and a twinge of sidness unfurls in try
“Nowhere, I guess. I’m just wandering around.”
“You’re so beautiful. Where’s your husband?” Another boy asks.
I turn to him, lifting a brow in surprise.
“Why would you assume that I have a husband?”
He shrugs. “Because mommy says that beautiful girls need strong men to protect them from the world. So where is he?”
“He’s right here.” A deep, dark baritone says suddenly from behind me.
I turn around and there stands Caesar, staring at me with an expression that says I’m in big trouble
