isn’t that what you are. Athena? Isn’t that why you’re here?”
For the next three seconds, cold silence reigns in the room. The I get to my feet and stare him down, simmering with
anger.
“Excuse you? In case you’ve forgotten. I never asked for your he in the first place. If this relationship is going to be based on disrespect, you should’ve left me in the rain where you first saw me.”
By the time I’m done, my chest is heaving and my breath comes out in hard, angry spurts. Thankfully, Jayla gets to her feet and stands by my side:
“She’s right. You will not speak to my best friend like that, Mr. Manchester. Bear it in mind that we would’ve still survived without you or your help.”
Caesar says absolutely nothing. He just sits there, looking at us with a face so cold and so emotionless, it might as well be carved out of ice.
Finally, he shrugs.
“I apologise if my words came off as insulting, Miss Amaya. That was never my intention. If you’re ready, please sign documents, I have somewhere to be.”
Shutting me out. Again.
It shouldn’t hurt this much, but it does. And I hate it.
“What exactly is your problem?” I blurt without thinking, “What did I do to you? Tell me.”
“Are you looking for reasons to start a fight, Amaya?” He asks in a firm tone, infuriating me further.
1 open my mouth to snap back at him but catch myself just in time.
I know what he’s doing. For some reason, Caesar Manchester is deliberately trying to get a rise out of me and I will not oblige with his games.
I sit my arse back on the chair and Jayla follows suit.

I get to my feet once more and as usual, Jayla follows suit; then if my chin and look down Caesar who hasn’t taken his eyes off me in a hot minute.
That would be all, Mr. Manchester. My babies need me so I’ll leave now. You can see yourself out when you’re done.”

Jayla lets out a gasp of glee, utterly happy with my sassy tone.
I turn on my heel and walk out of the room while she hurriedly walks in front of me after giving Henry the stink eye.

Shocked, I wrap my fingers around a muscular bicep to steady myself.
Chapter 7
My eyes widen in surprise when I look up and instantly get sucked in by Caesar’s dark eyes.
“I never gave you permission to leave. Don’t you dare walk out me”
I snap out of my daze immediately.
“You don’t get to tell me what to do.” I reply through gritted teeth.
As if my words disgust him, Caesar releases me suddenly and I go tumbling backwards with a gasp of surprise.
He sinks his fingers into his pockets and says;
“The wedding plans start today. It will be a big, international wedding so I need you to be prepared. Tomorrow, designers. will bring dresses for you to choose from and you will accompany me to dinner with my family on Saturday night. I’ll meet you at the hotel. Don’t be late.”
That said, he turns around and walks out of the room with Henry, his loyal servant tagging behind him.
And I come to the realisation that Ceasar Manchester is the only alpha in my life that has ever made my wolf feel so angry and protected all at the same time.
The next day dawns in a flurry of wedding gowns and after–party dresses.
Not only did Caesar fly an entire team of designers from Harrods in the United Kingdom all the way to New York City, I was also shocked when I found out that he hired a make–up expert to personally curate my look for the wedding.
I’ve been up since 6 AM. It’s currently 11AM and I’m exhausted.
I’m about to try out my eleventh dress for the morning. Apparently, I gained some pregnancy weight and nothing seems to

“Hey, Amaya, a Duke from some English country will be attending your wedding. How sick is that?!” Jayla squeals as she scrolls through her iPad.
Right now, I’m not even surprised anymore. Caesar sent over a guest list and so far, I’ve seen names of billionaires, royalties and even government officials from several countries.
I’d very much prefer a small wedding but Caesar had already made it clear I yesterday that I have no say.
“According to the news, it’s the wedding of the century” Jayla continues, unperturbed. “And it will be live–streamed across several countries and packs around the world.”
Suddenly. A voice cuts into our conversation;
“Miss Amaya, the supreme Alpha of the BlueRivers Pack and his family have been invited to the wedding. The boss asked me to inform you.
For a moment, I freeze. Then I lift my head and stare at the wedding planner.
“Excuse me? Do you mean Allistair Blackwell and his family?”
She nods.
“Yes, ma’am. The entire Blackwell family will be in
attendance.
I turn to Jayla who equally has a look of shock on her face.

Chapter 7
“Why is he doing this?” seethe. “He knows fully well that I don’t want those people at the wedding”
I turn to the wedding planner.
“Call your boss right now. I’d like to speak with him.”
“There’s no need for her to do that. I’m right here.” Caesar’s deep voice cuts into the air.
The atmosphere is already tense as I focus on my attention on n.
He runs his eyes over my frame, his eyes darkening with an emotion I cannot quite explain as he takes in my wedding dress. “What the hell are you doing, Caesar? I don’t want the Blackwell at my wedding. Most especially Alistair and Zara”
He gives me that infuriating shrug.
“I thought you’ve gotten
Wer your ex–husband, Amaya. Why would you care if he attends the wedding or not? And please. watch your mouth. There’s no need to swear.”
Goddess, this man make me so angry.
“I just don’t want them there. Remove their names from the guest list.”
One corner of his lips tip in a dangerous–looking grin, highlighting the sharp gorgeousness of his face.
He walks calmly to the nearest chair and sinks into it.
“I think you’re speaking under the mistaken impression that you have a say over how this wedding will happen, Amaya.
Now, allow me to clear your doubts. The only things that are within your power to decide are your dress and make–up. I only showed the guest list to you out of courtesy. There’s absolutely no reason for you to believe that you get to dictate who attends the wedding and who doesn’t. Do you understand?”
My cheeks redden in embarrassment as the workers around us lower their gazes.
Remember who you are, Amaya, I silently tell myself. Don’t let him bring you down.
So I don’t have a say. Got it.”
“No, you don’t.” He deadpans. “And besides, we need to put our plans into action as soon as possible. What better way make an ex jealous than to invite him to your lavish wedding?”
I pause because he’s absolutely right. The plan is brilliant. Alliatair has always been a jealous man. Inviting him to the wedding is my perfect revenge.
I open my mouth to speak but just then, Henry barges into the dressing room and after exchanging glances of disgust with Jayla as per their new ritual, he hurries towards Caesar,
“Sir! You won’t believe who’s at the door demanding to see you
Caesar sits up, his eyes instantly going in alert.
“Who is it? How did the person find out about the penthouse?”
She knows about this house because she once
used to live here Henry replies urgently. “It’s Miss Elle. Your ex–wife.
