Nathan’s alluring eyes narrowed.
“She has changed. The Cassidy from the past would have never let you get hurt. She doesn’t care about you at all now, Only I do,” said Meredith.
Seeing Nathan remaining silent, she licked her lips and continued, “Nathan, I’m the only one in this world who is willing to do anything for you, no matter the cost, without any regrets. Then, she stood up and gently loosened her dress one by one.
Seeing the clothes on the floor, Nathan finally came back to his senses. He raised his eyes to look at Meredith, now standing exposed. A glimmer of restrained anger flickered in Nathan’s eyes as he got to his feet, peering down at her flushed countenance. He inquired sharply, “What are you doing?”
“Nathan, take me, please!” As Meredith spoke, she leaned over and hugged Nathan’s waist, trying to melt his resolve. She was like a willing sacrifice, waiting for his next move.
After a lengthy pause, Nathan’s frosty voice resounded above her. “Put your dress back on.”
“What?” Meredith was startled and looked at Nathan’s deep–set eyes in disbelief.
“Put your dress on and get lost growled Nathan.
“He’s asking me to get lost! Meredith finally lost control. “You can have her, but why not me? Am I not as good as her? Whatever you like about her, I can become like that!
Nathan suddenly grabbed her chin and warned, “You’re not her match at all. His grip was so forceful that she gasped in pain.
Meredith had mustered up the courage to give herself to him, but she was brutally refused. She was not reconciled, so despite the pain, she wasn’t willing to simply leave. “Nathan, don’t push me away? No one in the world loves you more than I do. You love Cassidy so much, but what about her She doesn’t love you anymore.”
Nathan replied expressionlessly. “Meredith, I didn’t realize you were so cheap before. If you have such feelings for me, show some sincerity. Otherwise, it will only turn people off”
Meredith was blindsided by Nathan’s harsh words. Through tears, she choked out, “Nathan, do you really think I’d stoop so low? Do you have any idea how terrified I am right now! I’d rather die than walk away from you. Can’t you get Cassidy out of your mind? She’s not yours anymore. She’s with Josiah now. They have a daughter together. Why are you still fixated on her after everything she’s done to you?”
When Nathan heard Meredith saying “She doesn’t belong to you anymore, his eyes turned icy as he lost control and pushed her aside, roaring. “Piss off!”
Meredith was caught off guard and fell into the couch. She lay there in a disheveled mess, yelling, “I’m just telling the truth!”
“Meredith, I’m warning you. Don’t challenge my bottom line again, wamed Nathan as his cold gaze fell on her face before quickly looking away.
As he made his way to the door and swung it open. Meredith called subconsciously, “Nathan…”
Nathan, looking even more agitated, slammed the door shut and departed.
The study fell silent once more.
Meredith covered herself with her clothes and hugged herself helplessly, bursting into tears.
Outside the door, Nathan caught a figure’s glimpse at the end of the corridor. Turning his head, he saw Jayden standing alone
there.
Jayden looked at Nathan blankly, wondering, Who is that woman? I know she’s Paisley’s mommy, but why is she in that painting‘ She came here aggressively and slapped Daddy in the face. But why do I have a strange sense of closeness toward. her?‘ He was full of questions but didn’t know how to ask. Seeing Nathan leave the study, Jayden pursed his lips, walked into his room, and closed the door.

No replies came from the room.
Ar Wailace Residence, Cassidy showered and went to Paisley’s room. She lay down beside Paisley. Although Cassidy had deliberately lightened her movements, Paisley was jolted awake. She opened her red swollen eyes. Seeing that it was Cassidy, she mumbled unconsciously, “Mommy…”
Cassidy held her in her arms and murmured. “Mommy is here.”
“Mommy. I’m sorry.” Paisley mewled, thinking how she had made Cassidy angry again.
Cassidy gently pinched her face and smiled. “Silly goose, go to sleep. Mommy will hug you to sleep, okay?”
Paisley mumbled in agreement as she hugged Cassidy and fell asleep again.
The following day, Cassidy was awakened by her phone’s urgent trilling. She answered it and heard Josiah’s secretary’s voice. “Ms. Saunders, bad news
His nervous tone woke Cassidy up completely. She sat up, frowning “What’s wrong!”
“This morning, the people from Cypress Corporation came to Saunders Group. Mr. Saunders was in the conference room all morning with the board of directors and shareholders. Halfway through. I went in several times. It seems like Cypress Corporation wants to buy out Saunders Group, explained the secretary
