Chapter 31
As Cassidy was leaving, a realization struck her suddenly. She headed to the study, retrieving a ring box from the drawer. Upon her arrival at Saunders Group, she handed the key to the attendant and made her way toward the conference room.
The conference room was shrouded in a miserable air. Some were happy, while others were not
Nathan sat across from Josiah, with the chief financial officer reporting the past three months‘ financial reports tremblingly.
Cypress Corporation’s tempting offer left many shareholders in a frenzied state, despite understanding the detrimental impact of a buyout on Saunders Group. Plus, Cypress Corporation was too powerful. They didn’t dare to fight against it.
Cypress Corporation’s representative announced, “Although Beacon Corporation made considerable profits during the financial crisis, its debt ratio also reached a ten–year high. Why don’t you shareholders think this over carefully.”
Nathan looked indifferent as his slender, long fingers casually played with a Zippo lighter. His fingers lingered over the titanium body before a sudden clink resounded, and a faint firelight reflected in his alluring eyes. He lit a cigarette as his eyes reflected the flame brightly. As the dense smoke was breathed out, his handsome face reflected a cold and resolute look. Cassidy was his bottom line. Since Josiah wanted to step on it, he would destroy Saunders Group then
Josiah clenched his fists and stared at Nathan. He knew Nathan was here to destroy Saunders Group, but no one could deal with a giant like Cypress Corporation. Despite this realization, Josiah refused to accept defeat, his resolve standing strong against the impending threat.
Meanwhile, outside the window, the distinct sound of Cassidy’s high heels on marble flooring echoed as she walked by. With a sudden push, the conference room door swung open, drawing all attention toward the entrance. Cassidy, clad in a dark red suit that accentuated her radiant complexion, approached the projector and momentarily blocked the light, emanating an air of sophistication under the stark white illumination.
She quickly fixed her eyes on Nathan, smiled coldly, and turned off the projector. “Turn on the light.”
Morgan, Cassidy’s assistant, turned the lights on
Cassidy tilted her chin up a bit, scanning the room before speaking in an emotionless tone, “Does Cypress Corporation really think it has the cash to mess with Saunders Group over petty stuff? Do they fancy themselves as some kind of big shot in this country?” Her words exuded confidence and a strong presence.
With that, she looked at Nathan and smiled coldly. “You, come out
Nathan put out the cigarette and asked leisurely, “Why?”
“Let’s talk before Cypress Corporation decides to acquire Saunders Group,” stated Cassidy. She looked at the time and continued, “Since both our time is precious, Mr. Howell, let’s not waste it. I will give you one minute. I’ll wait for you downstairs.” Then she left the conference room without looking back.
Everyone was so shocked that they didn’t know what to say. They all knew that this was Cassidy, Josiah’s fiancée. However, no one expected Cassidy to talk to Nathan in such a tone.

s narrowed in a steely gaze as he gripped his fists, knuckles whitening with tension. Abruptly, he stood up and strode towards the door.
As soon as Nathan left the conference room, whispers started circulating among those present.
Amid the discussions, Josiah stood up and wanted to catch up with Nathan, but Logan stepped forward and blocked Josiah “Hold up, Mr. Saunders.”
“Get
“Get out of the way,” thundered Josiah..
“Ms. Jensen requested to have a discussion with Mr. Howell, so there is no need for you to get involved, Mr. Saunders, advised Logan.
Josiah frowned and clenched his fists.
The elevator door opened, and Cassidy stepped into it. She pressed the button for the ground floor and waited for Nathan to step in before releasing the button and letting the door slide shut.

Cassidy fixed her eyes on the bouncing numbers on the display panel and inquired softly. “Is this how you roll?”
Nathan looked at her.
Cassidy smirked. “Cypress Corporation swooped in and gobbled up all of Saunders Group’s major assets. Financially, it was a risky move with minimal returns–a departure from Cypress Corporation’s normal play. However, on a personal level, setting aside the cost, it’s a clever way to wound and get back at Saunders Group.”
As the elevator arrived at the ground floor, Cassidy exited first and glanced back, spotting Nathan with his intense, brooding stare fixed on her.
Nathan growled, “So, what’s on your mind?”
Cassidy replied, “I won’t stand by and watch you harm Saunders Group.” Then, she walked out of the door.
Nathan had barely caught up with her when Cassidy lifted her hand, revealing the diamond ring she held.
Nathan’s eyes suddenly froze.
Cassidy turned to face him. “Do you remember this ring?” It was the ring Nathan had placed on Cassidy’s finger during his proposal. “Nathan, don’t think I’m clueless about your intentions. Acquiring Saunders Group is just a ploy to manipulate me, isn’t it?”
Nathan inclined his attractive face slightly, maintaining a silence that Cassidy had grown to despise.
With a scowl, Cassidy flung the ring into the fountain, causing Nathan’s gaze to blur momentarily.
The next second, Cassidy unexpectedly seized his tie, yanking him closer and delivering a stern warning. “Nathan, heed my words. Back off! If you’re dead set on targeting Saunders Group, see it through! If you aim to acquire it, then do so! Show your menle and go the distance. Giving up halfway would only earn my contempt!”
Nathan lowered his gaze, assessing her impassively. Finally, he retorted icily. “Do you think I wouldn’t dare to?”
“Of course, I know you have the guts!” Cassidy sneered, finding his words amusing. “You’re Nathan! You always find a way to intensify my animosity towards you.” Her piercing gaze bore into him like a blade.
“Remember when you questioned how long I could safeguard Josiah and Saunders Group? Well, why not test it out? Let’s see if I can endure. I may not bring down Howell Group, but even at the expense of my life, I won’t allow you to grasp Saunders. Group!” With that declaration, Cassidy abruptly released his tie, pivoted, and headed towards Saunders Group.
