The Fashion Awards show was fast approaching, and the fashion industry and the internet at large were abuzz with anticipation.
It was an event that was organized by top fashion gurus every two years. Several designers would be invited to witness the event but only five were selected to be part of the exhibition and stand the chance of winning the ultimate title.
Having lead the most successful fashion house in the last year, Thalassa Thompson’s name was easily among the top five along with other designers. This was the first time she was being nominated. Another name that also rang loudly was the name of Linda Miller.
Despite the decline in her company’s sales, especially in the last year, Linda Miller had held the title of ‘Queen of Fashion‘ four times, two of which were won consecutively. She was still the reigning Queen of Fashion, so it was no surprise that she was also nominated despite all the controversies.
It was no secret that the Miller Fashion House had some of the best designers—just as talented as those at TT Fashion House–so most people concluded that the title of Queen of Fashion would be won by one of the two
women.
Several headlines focused on them:

At the Miller Fashion House, Linda Miller was stewing in irritation at all the headlines. What pained her the most was being compared to Thalassa, someone she had once considered far beneath her.
Her models and designers were the ones to beat the brunt of her wrath.
“Are you stupid? This looks like trash,” she raged at the designer who was supposed to add the final touches to the piece she hoped would stun the judges and win her the title again.
“But Mrs. Miller, this is perfect.” The designer tried to say.
Linda glared at her. “You think you know better than me? You better fix this nonsense before tomorrow.”
She stormed into the room where the models were practicing, and they were not spared from experiencing her terrible mood. They were only saved when Susan Miller walked in.
“Mum, I came here to see how I can help out.” She said.
“Well, it was about time, don’t you think?” Linda sneered, but then let out a sigh when Susan’s smile faded.” Sorry, dear, I just feel anxious.”
Susan wrapped her arms around her mother. “You should try to relax, mum. I know everything will go smoothly for you like it always has. That bitch Thalassa doesn’t stand a chance.”
Linda shook her head. She wished it were that simple. “I can’t relax until I win the title again, Susan. I need to retain my title. I can’t let that woman take it away from me
Retaining her title as Queen of Fashion would bring attention back to her fashion house. It was the perfect chance for her company to finally recover from the crisis it was experiencing.
She couldn’t lose. She had to win at all costs.

At TT Fashion House, the atmosphere was completely different. The models and designers had smiles on their faces as they practiced and prepared.
After that day when she unleashed her frustrations on the models, Thalassa had returned to being the boss they all loved. She always critiqued with respect and took their opinions into consideration.
Though everyone was nervous about the upcoming show, they knew they had prepared as best they could.
Soon, it was only a day before the show.
“Are you nervous?” Luisa asked as they stood in the display room admiring the final designs on the mannequins. There were ten dresses in total.
“Yes,” Thalassa admitted.
“Me too,” Luisa said, and they both chuckled.
“Both of you shouldn’t worry. Everything is going to be alright,” one of the seamstresses assured them. “We’re going to win, you’ll see.”
“I hope so,” Thalassa whispered. For some reason she couldn’t explain, she felt an uneasy feeling in her chest. When closing time arrived and they were about to go home, Thalassa couldn’t resist checking the dresses one last time to ensure everything was intact.
“You really are anxious,” Luisa commented with a small laugh. Thalassa chuckled, but she still couldn’t shake away the uneasiness inside her.
She needed this win to continue defeating Linda Miller, and she was sure her designs and models could secure her the title.
So why was she feeling so nervous?
The uneasiness stayed with her until she fell asleep.
The next morning, which was the day of the event, both Thalassa and Luisa got up early, had breakfast, and headed to the company.
The event was going to take place in the evening, but they still had to ensure any last–minute details or necessary changes were taken care of before the event began.
As soon as they stepped out of the elevator, they were met with the forlorn faces of two seamstresses who had also come in early.
“Lassa, I was just about to call you,” one of the seamstresses said.
Her sad tone made Thalassa instantly tense.
“Why? What the matter?”
“I think you should see for yourself.”
Thalassa and Luisa immediately rushed past them into the display room, and their hearts sank at the sight before them.
All ten dresses that had been designed for the award show were completely destroyed. Someone had cut thern into several pieces that were spread all over the floor.
