Chapter 30
“What?! What are you saying?!” Susan exclaimed. “You mean your ex–wife, Thalassa?”
“Which other Thalassa do we all know?” Kris gritted out.
“But… how can that lowlife woman be the owner of the biggest fashion business in Baltimore?” his aunt said until she saw the dark look on his mother’s face. “I mean second best.”
“Wait, my crush is that bitch?” Tyler fumed.
“Now it all makes sense,” his mother said, anger visible on her face. “That’s why everything started going downhill for my fashion house when that stupid TT Fashion appeared. She was behind it all. She clearly wants revenge on me for how I exposed her and got her arrested.”
His mother sounded like she was hyperventilating, so Kris immediately went closer to her. “Mum, calm down.”
“No! How can I calm down? Didn’t you see how I debased myself by going to ask for her help? Nallowed that stupid woman to humiliate me.”
Karen was the only one who hadn’t spoken because she felt dumbstruck. If Thalassa had truly come back just to get revenge on Linda, then she knew Thalassa wasn’t going to spare her either.
“Kris, you need to make that stupid ex–wife of yours pay,” his aunt fumed.
Kris felt tired and exhausted. Without saying anything, he turned and began making his way towards the stairs. Karen followed. She didn’t even wait for them to go up before she started questioning him.
“So you went to see Thalassa? When did you find out that she was the one? What did you two talk about, huh? Why did you go to see her?”
Kris gritted his teeth in irritation, not responding to her even as they entered their bedroom.
Karen grabbed him by the arm. “Kris, I’m talking to you.”
Kris jerked his arm away, finally turning to issue her a glare. “Are you serious? Is that the only thing you’re thinking about? Your jealousy and insecurity?”
“Insecurity? Kris, we’ve been married for three years and yet you treat me like I’m not even your wife. You never touch me. How else am I supposed to feel?”
“You know what? I can’t deal with this.” Kris hissed and stormed out of the room.
Left alone, Karen sank onto the bed, feeling her legs shaking. She felt angry and afraid at the same time.
Why couldn’t Thalassa have moved on in the past three years? Why did she have to return?
Karen wasn’t stupid. She knew that the reason why Kris had never touched her or responded to her was because he was still in love with Thalassa. No matter what Karen had done, he had never been able to stop thinking about her.
Still, Karen would’ve been okay just having him by her side. But now that Thalassa was back, she felt so afraid that she was going to lose even that.
“Damn you! Damn you, Thalassa!” she fumed. “You aren’t going to take him away from me again. I won’t allow
you to,”
Punch! Punch! Punch!
Chapter 30
Kris delivered blow after blow and kick after kick to the punching bag in front of him, trying to release the reckless frustration gripping him.
This had become a sort of refuge for him. Every time he felt overwhelmed by his emotions, he came to the punching bag to release all his frustrations on it. But today despite the fact that he’d been punching and kicking for almost an hour, he still didn’t feel calm.
His best friends sat on two stools in the homemade gym, staring at him and exchanging looks between themselves as they wondered what was going on this time.
“Should we also bring a knife or an axe so that you can finish off the job of completely destroying the punching bag? Jeez,” Alden finally said in exasperation.
He walked towards Kris but not too close because he didn’t want to be smashed by the punching bag. “What’s going on, Kris?”
“It’s her. She’s the masked woman,” Kris responded as he continued delivering more punches to the bag.
Alden’s eyes widened. “It’s really Thalassa? I can’t believe this.”
“You mean that bitch is the one who has been targeting your mother’s company?” Henry said.
“Didn’t Kris warn you not to speak ill of Thalassa again?” Alden glared at him.
Henry rolled his eyes. “Do you think he will really defend that bitch after knowing she’s behind his mother’s company crisis?”
Kris gritted his teeth. The continued insult of Thalassa irritated him for some reason, but he also knew Henry was right. He would be out of his mind to defend her after what she was trying to do to his family.
“What happened when you found out?” Alden asked. “Did you confront her?”
Kris finally felt his muscles giving in from the exhaustion, and he stopped punching. His chest heaving, he grabbed a bottle of water and chugged all of it down his throat.
“I told her that if she continues to mess with my family, then she would have me to deal with.
Alden bit his lip thoughtfully. “Do you think she’s back only because of your mother? What if she wants payback on you as well?”
Considering Alden’s words, Kris felt enraged. “She wants payback on me? For what exactly? For loving her like an idiot only for her to betray me several times? Is that what she’s going to get payback on me for?”
He was raging again. Alden didn’t know what else to say to pacify him, wishing he hadn’t brought it up. Thankfully, Kris’s phone on the bench began ringing.
Kris stiffly went to pick it up and answered when he saw that it was Smoke, his PL
“Smoke?”
“Mr. Miller, I’ve found the information you asked me about the identity of the owner of TT Fashion. It’s your ex- wife, Tha-”
“I already know,” Kris cut him off.
“Oh.” The PI said, not having expected that. He remained silent until Kris impatiently hissed.
“Do you have anything else?”
“Oh yes,” the PI scrambled to answer. “I found out that a few days after the two of you got divorced, she began

living in the Baltimore house of the renowned businessman, Zeke Mathews. She left New York together with him and has been living with him and his family all these years. Shortly after they went to New York, she received a wire transfer of $200 million dollars, and she consistently received it for several more months. So I’m sure that Zeke Mathews‘ money was what was used to fund her fashion company.”
Kris clenched his jaw tightly.
Thalassa and Luisa elegantly walked into the foyer of their office building, receiving greetings from employees who passed them. Just as they were about to pass the receptionist’s desk, the young woman stopped them.
“Thalassa, there are some people here to see you,” she informed her, looking a little uneasy.
Thalassa frowned. “Some people? Who are they?”
“Us!” a voice hissed from behind her.
Thalassa turned to find not only Linda Miller but also Susan, Tyler, and their aunt Cynthia storming towards her.
“Oh wow, a whole army just to face little poor me,” she taunted.
That was when a hard slap landed on her cheek. Linda Miller had slapped her. Everyone at the reception observed what was going on with keen interest.
“You wretched woman! So you’re the one behind my company’s losses?” Linda growled.
Everyone stared at Thalassa, wondering what her reaction was going to be. Thalassa smiled, dipped her tongue in her cheek which had been slapped, then returned the slap with all her might.
The slap was so hard that it sent Linda flying back at the impact.
The room fell silent with shock.
