Chapter 19 You Were Just a Pitiful Substitute!
Outside Grace’s residence, the sun was shining brightly as Judy was tending to her newly purchased flowers in the garden. Just when everything seemed calm and peaceful, a familiar car suddenly stopped at the gate. The car door opened, and Claire angrily stepped out, wearing high heels, and headed straight for the front door.
“Grace! Have you hidden enough? You have the guts to make such a big commotion, but not the guts to face me?” Claire’s voice was sharp and piercing, shattering the tranquility of the early morning.
Judy looked up and snorted coldly, “Grace is not at home, go wherever you want, but don’t cause trouble in my house.”
“Auntie, you have no say in this!” Claire turned around and coldly retorted Judy, completely shedding her usual obedient facade.
Just as Judy was about to explode in anger, the door opened gently, and Grace walked out slowly, with a faint smile on her face. “Claire, do you need something from me?”
Claire sneered and pointed at her, saying, “Grace, don’t pretend to be so noble! Do you think you’re so great now, thinking it’s impressive to have Antonio begging in front of you?”
Grace raised an eyebrow slightly and said, “So what?”
“So, what? So, you’re just a loser!” Claire’s voice was filled with.

triumph. “You can run away, you can leave everything behind, but in the end, Antonio will still choose me. He loves me, he can’t live without me. You’re just a pitiful substitute!”
Grace smiled lightly, her eyes shimmering like water but with a sharp glint, “Okay, since that’s the case, then why did you come here today causing a scene? What is it for?”
Claire was momentarily speechless, her expression frozen on her face. She hated Grace’s calmness at that moment, that indifferent attitude felt like a knife, ruthlessly cutting into her heart.
“Do you know why Antonio went back last night?” Claire lifted her chin, trying to maintain her composure. “He came back overnight because he was worried about me. His heart only belongs to me forever. Do you think running away from the wedding can save anything? It’s just making me get him faster!”
Grace shook her head and sighed, “Claire, do you think too highly of yourself?”
She took a few steps closer, her voice low and clear, “Your so- called love is nothing more than a self–directed drama. Don’t you find it ridiculous? To make yourself so miserable for a man who doesn’t love you.”
Claire’s face instantly turned red, “you’re talking nonsense! Antonio loved me, he said he was willing to do anything for me!”
“But have you ever considered that his ‘willingness‘ v. as only out of guilt, not love?” Grace’s tone was calm, but it pricked at Claire’s self–esteem like a needle.

Claire’s face turned pale, and just as she was about to defend herself, Antonio spoke coldly, “I had already seen through your little tricks.”
His voice grew colder and colder, “You keep saying that you love me, but you only want to control me, using these means to maintain your sense of existence. Claire, I only have a sense of responsibility towards you, not love.”
Claire’s lips moved, but not a single word came out. Her world seemed to collapse in an instant as Antonio’s merciless words completely devastated her.
Grace stood calmly on the side, watching the scene without any ripples in her eyes.
“Grace…” Antonio looked at her, his eyes filled with deep regret. “I… I’m sorry.”
