The realization hit me like a truck. My adoptive father’s gambling, the constant fear in the pack’s eyes, the barely functioning infrastructure–it had all been sustained by Matira’s money. It wasn’t loyalty or concern for my safety that drove them to search for me when I ran away. It was fear that my mother would stop supporting them financially if I vanished.

help.”
Shakira nodded, pleading with her eyes. “Please. Don’t blame us, Shirley. We had no choice.”

Shakira looked at me with wide eyes. “We don’t have anything. It’s all gone.”

Morpheus‘ face drained of color, and Shakira’s mouth dropped open in shock. Before they could Speak, Alice, their daughter, stormed into the room. “You want dominion over the Ghost Pack? That never going to happen!” she screamed, her voice echoing through the room.
But I stood firm. This pack was supposed to be my mother’s legacy. It should have been mine all
along.
“You need money,” I said coldly, locking eyes with Alice, “and I’m offering a solution. If you don’t agree to this deal, forget it.”
Morpheus clenched his jaw, his entire body tensing with the weight of the decision. “Fine,” he muttered through gritted teeth. “We’ll sign. The pack is yours.”
There’s no rush,” Lorik said smoothly, his lips curling into a smirk. “Tomorrow, we’ll gather the legal team and go to the werewolf council. Everything will be made public then.”
The light in Morpheus‘ eyes dimmed. He knew the consequences of his decision–he had lost everything. But this was the only way to keep their family alive.
The next day, the transfer of the Ghost Pack was finalized before the werewolf council. The pack was now incorporated into the Silvermoon Pack, ruled by Lorik and me.
I had expected resistance, anger, and defiance from the wolves of the Ghost Pack. But to my surprise, they welcomed us with open arms. It became clear that Morpheus and his family had been a burden to them for far too long.
