I shrugged, keeping my expression neutral. In reality, I wasn’t entirely sure there were photos of Lorik on her phone, but the way she reacted confirmed my suspicions. “You weren’t exactly subtle,” I said dryly.
Reluctantly, Alice pulled out her phone and deleted every photo she had of Lorik, her face burning with shame. When she was done, she looked up at me. “What’s the second thing?”
I leaned in closer, lowering my voice to a whisper so only she could hear. As I spoke, Alice’s eyes widened in surprise. “Are you serious?” she asked, sounding uncertain.
I nodded, my gaze steady. “Absolutely.”
Alice hesitated for a moment, but then nodded, her expression hardening with determination. “Fine.
I’ll do it.” With that, she hurriedly got up and left the room.
Lorik, who had been watching the entire exchange with a mix of curiosity and concern, finally
broke the silence. “What did you tell her?”
I smirked playfully, glancing at him. “It’s a secret.”
Lorik chuckled softly, though his curiosity remained, but he let it go for now.
Later, I arrived at the academy. I had finished all of my cultural classes, and now only attended for
combat training, which meant my schedule was pretty flexible. I dressed casually, trying to avoid
attention, but even in my low–key outfit, I was recognized.
“Hey, isn’t that Shirley? The legendary racer?” someone called out, and before I knew it, a group of people began to gather around me, excited whispers filling the air.
Just as the crowd started closing in, someone wearing a hat and a mask appeared beside me.
Without a word, they grabbed my hand and led me away at a brisk pace, pulling me through the throngs of people and out of sight.
I was dragged across the campus by the man, his hand gripping mine tightly as he darted ahead with incredible speed. I struggled to keep up, my feet barely touching the ground as we wove through the scattered crowd. Gradually, the voices and footsteps behind us faded into the distance, the buzz of students becoming mere background noise.

Once we were clear of the crowd, he slowed down and dually came to a stop, panting lightly, He reached up and pulled off his hat and mask, revealing the familiar face underneath
“Narik?” I said, my eyes wide with surprise. “Why are you dieessed like this?

message.
I smiled in response.
Alice didn’t dare continue to look at me, just jogged to catch up with Sosia’s group of followers.
I kept walking until I reached the school building. My first stop was Lork’s office. He’d stayed over
at my place last night and had left some important papers behind. I knocked lightly on the door, and his cool voice came from inside.
