Chapter 171
I stood nearby, the weight of the moment pressing down on me. My voice was soft as I spoke, but it carried the full depth of my emotions.
“You won’t meet with an accident this time, Lorik. I won’t accept your inheritance either. If you must pass it on, give it to Daria or Narik. I don’t want it. And… I don’t need it. I don’t hate you anymore, but that doesn’t mean I need your compensation.”
Lorek, seated by the fire, his rugged face tense, growled lowly, his frustration evident. “This isn’t about compensation. I love you! Just simply love you!”
His words echoed In the room, and for a moment, I closed my eyes, letting the pain settle in. Once, those words would have been a balm to my heart, a long–awaited confession that would have filled me with joy. But now, they only brought sadness, a deep melancholy that seemed endless.
Before I could respond, Lorek’s phone buzzed, cutting through the heavy silence. He answered quickly, his tone sharp. “I’ll deal with it.” He hung up, then looked at me, his voice softer. “There’s something you need to see. Come with me.”
Later that night, Lorikinvited Lorcia and her family to the villa. The once–proud Flameheart pack had fallen on hard times. Recent failures with contracts–especially the botched deal with Silvermoon–had left them on the brink of financial ruin. Lorcia’s father, Nicholas, had seen his business prospects dwindle, and the pack was growing desperate.
Still, Angelina, Lorcia’s mother, was optimistic, as they made their way into the villa. “I’m sure
Lorikhas remembered how good Lorcia is. Maybe he’s looking to rekindle things,” she said with
confidence. “And if he offers anything–gifts, money–don’t hesitate, just take it.”
Nicholas frowned, shooting her a glare. “When Lorikarrives, put that greedy look away. You’re
making a fool of us.”
Angelina opened her mouth to argue, but just then, Panther, one of Lorek’s most trusted men, appeared at the top of the staircase. His expression was hard as stone, his voice colder still. “Alpha Lorikis waiting for you in the study.”
Panther’s cold attitude made the smug look on Angelina’s face disappear, and Lorcia’s initial confidence seemed to wane as they followed Panther through the hall.
In the study, the air was thick with tension. Loriksat on the sofa, his posture rigid, his expression unreadable. But before Lorcia or her parents could muster up their sycophantic smiles, their attention was drawn to me, sitting quietly in the corner.

Angelina’s sharp voice cut through the room, filled with venom. “What are you doing here? How are you not ashamed to show your face?”
I smiled coldly, unfazed by her words. Lorek’s voice, however, was steady and commanding as he addressed them. “Why did you let Lorcia impersonate Shirley?”
The question hung In the air like a blade. Silence followed, as everyone in the room froze. Lorcia’s parents looked at one another, their eyes wide with shock. Lorcia’s face paled.
Angelina, ever quick to recover, spoke up with a biting tone. “Alpha Lorek, be mindful of your words! Our Lorcia would never impersonate that… that woman.”
Lorcia forced a smile, trying to appear innocent. “Yes, Lorek, you must be mistaken. I don’t
nderstand what you mean.”
Lorek’s gaze darkened. “Really? Play it,” he said, nodding toward me.
With a simple press of a button, the soft melody filled the room–a tune Lorikhad been searching for, one that held deep meaning for him. A tune Shirley had composed, one that Lorcia had claimed as
her own.
Lorcia’s eyes widened in panic. “No! That’s mine! I was the one who played it!”
But before she could continue, Nicholas’s anger erupted. “I warned you not to get involved in such
deceit, but you insisted! Now look at what you’ve done–you’ve brought shame on the entire
Flameheart pack!”
Lorcia rounded on him, her voice rising. “I did it for the pack! For this family! You’ve always pushedTM me to marry a powerful Alpha. You forced me into this!”
Their shouting filled the room, their accusations flying at each other in a chaotic storm. I sat back, watching the spectacle with a detached calm, as their family unraveled.
“Enough.” Lorek’s voice cut through the commotion, commanding silence. His eyes were tired, though his tone held an edge of steel. “I didn’t call you here to argue or listen to your pitiful excuses. I have three things to say.”
The room went still.
“First,” he began, “return all the assets I gifted to the Flameheart pack. Second, all contracts between Silvermoon and Flameheart are terminated. You will no longer be involved in any future projects.”
Lorcia gasped, her face twisting in horror. But before she could speak, Lorik delivered the final blow. “And third, you will disappear from my life. You, your family, and anyone associated with
