The room fell into a heavy silence after he left. It was then that Lena, my wolf, appeared in my mind, her presence both calming and reassuring.
“Have you forgotten, Sherley?” she said gently. “You’ll be as good as new. Goddess Luna has given us the power to heal. No one can bring us down.”
Miraculously, I felt a slight casing of the pain in my hand. It was a small miracle, but it provided me with a glimmer of hope. I asked Lena if we could heal this wound completely.

I thought back to when I was caring for Lorik earlier, the way his injured legs were covered in scars, and it gave me some comfort to think that if injuries of that magnitude could be healed, then my hand injuries were probably nothing. I was overwhelmed with emotions and gratitude so I gave

The quiet of the room was abruptly interrupted when the door swung open, and a pair of impeccably dressed individuals entered. Their haughty demeanor was evident as they looked around the room with disdain.
“Shirley Eaton?” the woman asked, her voice dripping with contempt. “Are you the she–wolf who is clinging to Lorik and keeping Lorcia from being with him?”
I stared at her, confusion and alarm swirling within me. “Who are you?”
The woman and the man introduced themselves with an air of superiority. “We are Lorcia’s parents,” the man said. “Alpha and Luna of the Flameheart Pack.”

My heart raced. I was about to ask them to leave when their next words struck me like a blow.

The Alpha’s indifferent tone cut through me like a knife. “Lorik threw you under the bus the moment he heard about Lorcia’s injury,” he said coldly. “You should just leave and not stay here to be
humiliated.”
When they finished, they looked at me with condescending eyes, as if waiting to see me weep in shame and walk away from the place.
But they were destined to be disappointed.
I looked at them coldly, “You should ask Lorik who is actually chasing after whom right now. And, as for your claim that I framed Lorcia
There are a lot of people here and they all heard of it. If you
continue to slander me here, I don’t mind meeting you in court.”
Lorik’s POV
The fury that raged within me was unlike anything I’d felt in a long time. My hands trembled with barely contained violence as my mind replayed the image of Shirley’s injured hand. It was a
white–hot anger that consumed me, urging me to tear through every obstacle in my path. I could think straight, the only coherent thought being the need for revenge.
“I gathered my men and scoured every street in the neighborhood,” Beta’s voice broke through my haze of rage. He stood before me, his face etched with grim determination. “We used considerable force and managed to capture the man. He’s in custody now.”
My gaze locked onto Beta, my anger barely suppressed. “What do you know about him? Why did he target Shirley?”
“He’s one of the rogues who fled after our last confrontation,” Beta replied, his voice steady. “I suspect this attack was a retaliatory move aimed directly at you.”

Without a moment’s hesitation, I stormed towards the holding facility where the rogue was being detained. The sight of him, battered and bruised from a grueling interrogation, did little to temper
my rage.

That was all the motivation I needed. With a fierce snarl, I grabbed his hand and twisted it violently. The sickening crack of bones breaking was a twisted satisfaction, the rogue’s screams echoing off the walls. I retaliated with equal brutality, ensuring he felt every ounce of the pain he had inflicted
on Shirley.
As the rogue’s cries faded into weak moans, I stepped back, my breathing heavy but my rage slightly alleviated. I sank into a nearby chair, lighting a cigarette, trying to calm my turbulent emotions. Beta approached, holding out a phone with a serious expression.
“There’s a call for you,” Beta said, his tone both respectful and concerned.
I took the phone, my mind still burning with anger. “Hello?” I said, trying to steady my voice.
On the other end, Lorcia’s voice was strained and tearful. “Lorik, my hand… it’s broken,” she sobbed. “I’ve been working so hard to play the piano for you. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to play again. Please, come and see me.”
