Chapter 22
The room fell into a deep silence as Ethan’s cue hit me.
My catches in my throat and my heart races as I stare at him.
“No, it’s not right. Lorik’s sharp gaze looked at Ethan, Sherry’s parents are Alpha and Luna of the spectral pack’s and in all these years they never said Sherry was adopted.”
“Alpha and Luna of spectral pack’s have red hair and black eyes, don’t they?’ Ethan said, ‘And my daughter has black hair and green eyes, and as for the similarity in looks, that’s because Sherry’s
other, and her adoptive mother are blood sisters.”
In that moment, I saw the truth in his eyes.
I realised that Ethan and I had the same green eyes and black hair.
Ethan’s agitation was evident as he spoke, his voice strained. “You look so much like your mother, but you have my eyes and hair.”
I was too stunned to respond as Ethan’s hand trembled while he pulled out an old photograph. The image showed a younger Ethan, a woman who looked uncannily like me, and a baby nestled in her arms. They smiled at the camera, a picture of familial happiness.
“You have a crescent–shaped birthmark on your chest,” Ethan continued, his eyes red with emotion “After you were born, Melina laughed and said it was a gift from the goddess Luna.”
The recognition hit me hard. I had always had that birthmark, a detail I’d known about myself but never truly understood. My mind raced back to my early years. I was the firstborn of the spectral pack’s Alpha Luna.
They had long believed they couldn’t have children, but then I arrived. When my sister was borna few years later, the favoritism was stark. My parents, already distant, grew colder, showering her with all their affection while I was often neglected and bullied
There were a couple of instances where I suffered at the hands of my sister’s arrogance. I still remembered how she threw me off the stairs breaking my leg. She also started a rumor about me in the school that I have a bad character and I get good score only by flirting with teachers.
Not just school, my life at home was even miserable. I was forced to do home chores despite of having house help. I was the one waking up early, preparing breakfast, cleaning and managing overy thing on my own. Each and every bit of my childhood scars was illuminating with pain..

the realization was overwhelming. Tears streamed down my face as I recalled the pain of those days. Ethan moved to comfort me, his arms enveloping me as we both wept, the weight of our
hared history finally breaking through.
It was almost surreal to think that Ethan Winter, the renowned planist, was my father. The truth was so sudden, so shocking, that I could hardly process it. Maurice, who had been standing by, broke the moment of intimacy with a practical observation.
“Vampires have an acute sense of blood. When you were kidnapped and injured, the scent was unmistakably similar to Ethan’s. There was no mistaking it.”
Lorik looked like he’d realised something. ‘So that day, the person who saved you from kidnapping

‘It was Morris.‘ Thinking about what happened that day, I sneered. ‘If I had waited for your response, I might have died. It was Morris and I who teamed up to escape from there.*
Lorik gave a look of regret and apology, while I looked away from him.

Ethan’s face grew solemn. “We were chased by hunters back then. During one of the attacks, I was separated from your mother, who was holding you. I haven’t seen her since, and it’s likely she met
an unfortunate end.”
The sorrow in Ethan’s eyes mirrored my own grief. Even though I had never known my mother personally, the thought that she had sacrificed herself for me was heart–wrenching. My tears flowed freely once more, a testament to the loss of a mother I never knew but who had loved me fiercely,
Lorik tried to reach out and wipe away my tears, but Ethan grabbed his arm. He warned, ‘Don’t

Lorik’s face grimaced as Ethan exuded a powerful aura that rivalled him, refusing to back down
from anyone.
When Ethan looked at me, his gaze softened, ‘You’re the most talented musician I’ve seen in years. If you are willing. I would like to train you to become a top piano master. I have students from different races–vampires, werewolves, witches, and foxes, many from noble families. I’m sure you’ll find a suitable candidate among them.”

my daughter, not to rush her into anything.”
I knew Lorik wanted me to turn them down, but I just smiled.
“Tm not ready to think about love right now. My focus is on my music career.” I said.
Ethan’s expression brightened at my declaration. “I’m eager to learn everything about you. Let’s head to your place.”
When we arrived at the modest nat I’d rented, Ethan looked around with an expression that looked heartbroken. He looked at Lorik with hostility and said angrily, “You let your Luna live in a place like
Dis?”
As Lorik tried to retort, Ethan was already leading me away from the place.
This is unacceptable,‘ he said firmly. “My daughter deserves better. Pack your things, we’re moving.”
‘Shirley. Lorik took my other arm firmly, he looked a little annoyed, obviously because things were going far beyond his expectations, I thought we were just having some conflict. Come home with me, okay?‘
