Chapter 36
Lorcia’s face visibly paled at his words. She tried to mask it, but it was clear she was rattled.
The rogue wolf is shoved in front of me. Lorik comes round behind him and delivers a hard kick to his knee, the rogue wolf staggers to his knees. He was beaten, bruised and bloodied, and his clothes were torn and dirty.
Lorik orders him to apologise to me. The sight of him reminded me of that painful day, but it was clear that he had been severely punished.
prela’s expression soured as she spoke, “This rogue is despicable. He should be executed immediately.”
Lorik laughed coldly. “Not so fast. He has Lorcia you’re sorry.”
apologized to you yet.” He turned to the rogue. “Tell
But the rogue, looking straight at her, shook his head. “I never attacked her. My orders were to target
Lorik and his Luna. I don’t even know who she is.”
Lorcia’s composure faltered, and her face drained of color. Lorik then pulled out a folder from his jacket. “I have here two medical reports,” he said, holding them up for everyone to see.
“One shows Lorcia with a fractured hand. The other shows her hand as perfectly healthy.”
He looked directly at Andrew. “One of these reports is fake.”
Panther entered the room again, this time with a trembling doctor in tow. The man was clearly terrified as he stood before us. “I… I was paid to falsify the injury report,” he admitted, his voice
barely a whisper.
“Lorcia’s family offered me money to make it look worse than it was.”
Lorcia’s face twisted in fury. She shot up from her seat, lunging at the doctor, but Daria was quick to
intercept her, holding her back. “He’s lying!” Lorcia screamed, her voice shrill. “He’s been bribed to
frame me! This is all a setup!”
Lorik remained calm, watching her with a mixture of disgust and pity. “I also have surveillance footage,” he said, his tone sharp. “Would you like to see it? It clearly shows who was behind this little
scheme.
Lorcia’s bravado crumbled. Tears welled up in her eyes, spilling over as she pleaded, “I really was
tacked! My hand does hurt, just not as severely as 1 claimed. I didn’t fake the report; my parents Wht have done it. Please, you have to believe me?”
I glanced over at Lorik and Andrew, waiting to see how they would react. Lorik’s expression was unreadable, but his eyes were hard, unyielding
Andrew stared at me with suspicion in his eyes, weighing every word I had just spoken. His calculating gaze made it clear that he was trying to figure out how much of what I said was true. Next to him, Lorcia’s sobbing filled the room, her tears falling freely as she tried to convince him of
her sincerity.
“I only wanted to help, truly,” she cried. “I love Lorik so much, and my family just wanted to support me. They thought by helping me become Luna faster, it would be for the future of both packs.”
At the mention of “the future of both packs,” Andrew’s sharp expression softened. His interest piqued at the idea of strengthening his pack’s influence. Right and wrong didn’t concern him–only power and alliances. Even if Lorcia was guilty of everything she was accused of, her backing was
formidable. To Andrew, that was more valuable than truth.
I felt a sudden warmth on my hand. Looking down, I realized Lorik had taken my cold fingers in his,
squeezing them gently.
His voice was cold and steady as he addressed Lorcia. “You will never be my mate, Lorcia. Silver
Moon Pack doesn’t need a Luna who’s deceitful and full of lies.”
Lorcia’s eyes widened, her shock turning quickly to fury. “Lorik, how can you forget? You were on
the brink of death once, and it was my music–my song–that saved you
I felt Lorik’s hand tense. Her words struck a chord. I knew that the music she mentioned held a deep place in his heart, and though he didn’t speak of it often, I understood its significance to him.
I used to always feel jealous and bitter about this, but now I am at peace with it.
But before Lorcia could press further, Lorik straightened, regaining his composure. “You’ve never been able to prove that it was you playing that song. And even if it was, Lorcia, I could never love
someone so cruel.”
Lorcia’s face turned pale. She hadn’t expected him to reject her so thoroughly. Turning her gaze to me, she spat out venomously, “You’ve bewitched him, haven’t you? That’s why he’s turned his back
on me!”
