Chapter 77
I smiled, shaking my head slightly. “It’s taken care of. Nothing to worry about.”
He studied me for a moment, and then a small smile tugged at the corners of his mouth. He didn’t
press further, sensing that I had handled the situation. There was a quiet pride in his eyes, a recognition of my strength that made my heart swell.
After a while, Lorcia returned, drenched and disheveled. Her makeup was smudged, her eyes wild with barely contained rage, but she just said nothing. The filming crew glanced at her, confused and
concerned, but she ignored them, storming out of the room. The filming schedule was forced to end
arly, much to her frustration.
Lorik and I didn’t spare her a second glance. We finished handing out the donations to the children,
their innocent smiles and grateful eyes warming my heart. As we prepared to leave, the dean and the children gathered around us, thanking us profusely.
“Please come back soon!” one of the little girls called out, clutching a new doll to her chest.
I knelt down to her level, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. “We will, I promise.” I smiled to
her.
As we walked to the car, Lorik’s hand found mine, his fingers intertwining with mine. We didn’t
speak, but the connection between us was stronger than ever. There was a quiet understanding, a
mutual respect that had grown between us.
Later that night, after the day’s events had settled into the background of my mind, my phone buzzed with an unfamiliar text message. Curiosity piqued, I opened it, only to feel the blood drain
from my face.
The Image on the screen was horrifying. Jane, stripped and vulnerable, bruises marring her delicate skin, her face twisted in agony as she covered it with her hands. The text that followed made my
blood run cold.
*This is the price you pay for bullying my sister.*
My hands trembled as I stared at the message, my mind racing. Jane… she had been dragged into
this because of me.
My fingers trembled as I dialed Jane’s number, the dread in my chest growing with each ring that went unanswered. The silence on the other end was like a knife twisting deeper into my gut. I tried again, and again, but the result was the same–no response.

orik watched me, concern etched across his face. “What happened?” he asked, his voice steady but
Brgent.
I handed him my phone, the horrifying image of Jane still on the screen. “It’s Jane… she’s been hurt. They sent me this picture.”
Lorik’s eyes darkened as he took in the image, his expression hardening. “We need to find her. From the looks of the background, I think this might be Rosewood Park near the college.”
His calm, decisive tone helped ground me, even as panic threatened to take hold. “Let’s go,” I said, my voice stronger than I felt.
We hurried out of the house and into the limo. The drive to Rosewood Park was a blur, my thoughts cing with worry. When we arrived, the scene that greeted us was far from reassuring. The park was filled with teenagers, most of them gathered in groups, bobbing their heads to loud rock music that echoed through the trees. As Lorik and I stepped out of the limo, a few of them whistled, and some stared at us with misty–eyed expressions, their faces alight with uncharacteristic exuberance.
A scream suddenly erupted, cutting through the noise. My heart clenched as we pushed through the crowd, heading toward the source of the commotion. The crowd thickened, with people pressing in to get a closer look, their phones held high as they recorded the scene unfolding before them.
My blood ran cold when I saw what was happening at the center of the crowd. Sorcia had Jane pinned to the ground, straddling her like a predator over its prey. She was grabbing Jane’s head, slapping it repeatedly before slamming it into the hard ground with a sickening thud.
“Stop!” I screamed, but the noise of the crowd drowned out my voice.
Lorik was quicker to act, surging forward and grabbing Sorcia’s arms, yanking her off Jane with a force that sent Sorcia stumbling backward. I rushed to Jane, quickly stripping off my jacket and wrapping it around her shivering body. Her clothes were torn, her skin marred with bruises and
cuts, and she trembled uncontrollably, unable to form a coherent sentence.
“It’s okay, Jane… it’s okay,” I whispered, trying to soothe her as I pulled her closer. My wolf, Lena stirred within me, her presence a steadying force. “Lena, can you help her?” I asked, my voice
pleading.
