Chapter 3
Julian was standing behind me with a chill all over his body. Sensing the stares of those around me, I glanced back at
him.
Then, I turned my head and looked at the girl in the corner of the couch. Just a moment ago she was crossing her legs, twirling her fingers around her hair and looking smug. She could not smile now, and she looked like she wanted to eat me alive.
It seemed that Julian and his little girlfriend were having a party here, and it was definitely not the first time. It seemed that their relationship had transitioned from clandestine meetings to public coupledom.
When Julian got closer, the others finally moved.
“Mrs. Shaw, I’m really sorry, we were just talking nonsense. We’re idiots.”
“Yeah, Julian and Miss Crowe are just friends.”
“Please don’t take it seriously.”
Julian pulled up my wrist and wanted to take me away.
Without hesitation, I threw my drink in his face.
The air froze. Everyone’s faces changed, they couldn’t believe I did that.
The next second, I said with a smile, “Have fun with your little girlfriend. I’ll leave you to savor this.” I tried to break
his hand.
Julian’s face was livid. He picked me up, put me on his shoulder and walked out. Everyone in
the room was dumbfounded.
In the hallway, I struggled violently on his back, kicking and thrashing to break free from his grip. The lift just arrived and he took me in. As I turned, I spotted a pair of well–made black leather shoes. Then, I saw his straight, long legs and cold, white, slender fingers… The atmosphere was extremely awkward.
As the doors opened again, I couldn’t help but look up, only to see him looking at me.
I quickly covered my face and lowered my head.
Outside the club, Julian threw me into the back seat of the car and sat in himself. I got up
dizzily, feeling like I was going to get a concussion.
Julian took wet wipes from the toolbox to wipe his face. Eagle–eyed, I saw what appeared to be a condom behind the tissue box. He started questioning me, “What are you doing here? To gather Exhibit A of my infidelity?
I opened the door and tried to get out. His car was so dirty.
“Olivia he roared, pulling me back. “Where are you going? What the hell do you want?”
I was short of breath and pinched my palm ‘L… I’m going home.”
Julian called his assistant Roy to drive.
Along the way, none of us spoke. I was pale and felt like I was going to throw up at any moment. As soon as we arrived, I got out of the car and drank a whole glass of ice water in one go. Finally, I felt better.
Julian was sitting in the living room. I walked over and sat down. There was another
suffocating silence. In the end, he spoke first, “I went there for a project, yet you just made a scene. It was really

embarrassing. Did you even see yourself? Full–on crazy lady vibes back there.”
“Anything else?” I asked calmly.
‘If you want this to last, stop the jealousy. I can’t keep babysitting your insecurities.”
“Okay. Anything else?”
He frowned.“Olivia, do you realize how insufferable you’re being?”
I stood up with a smile on my lips. Soon, he’d never see me again.
I was going upstairs. Irritated by my smile, he sat in the living room for a while.
When he went upstairs, he found me asleep. After a shower, he slept next to me.

I turned my back sideways to him in the dark, as far away from him as I could. He pulled me into his arms with some force, a movement of fury. He held me so tightly that I could not move.
It was a sleepless night.
In the morning, I made breakfast only for myself. Julian came downstairs and saw me eating bread alone. He was ready to go out, but then he changed his mind and came to me.
He leaned over my ear and said in a gentle voice, “We’ll go to sea for two days this weekend, just the two of us.”
I drank the milk and responded with a nasal voice.
Not surprisingly, the day before the weekend, he stood me up again. He said he was flying to Hong Kong.
I didn’t care.
Perhaps he didn’t realize it. We hadn’t had a meal together for a long time. He warned me not to mention divorce, but in reality, he was treating me as if I were not his wife but his roommate.
At the end of the week, I took my books off the shelf and packed them into my suitcase. I planned to take them to my new home.
As I was unpacking, my mother–in–law called. I picked up the phone and said politely, “Hello, Mrs. Shaw.”
She answered arrogantly, “Come over to my place. Let’s put our previous agreement in writing–clear terms, no misunderstandings.”
“Is that really necessary?”
“Yes.”
“All right, I’ll be there this afternoon.”
“Come by at noon.”
“Fine.”
I didn’t have anything going on anyway.
On the other end of the phone, Seraphine was looking at Rita, who was walking in the garden with Julian. There was a wide smile on her face. She wanted Olivia to see what a match made in heaven was and who was the right one for her son.
