Chapter 33
“Hello?” I answered.
“Come over.”
Four simple words. I paused for a second, then replied, “Okay.”
I told Ann, “The President wants me to come. Stay here, I’ll be right back.”
Ann slowly raised her head, her gaze sweeping over me with a chilling intensity before a wry smile touched her lips.“Go.”

A wave of irritation washed over me. What was that look supposed to mean? An explanation? It felt impossible. Oh well, things would become clear eventually.
I arrived at Evan’s suite and went in. He was standing by the window, undoing his watch strap. A man undoing his watch strap… a cheesy plotline popped into my head: The male lead pretends to get intimate with his secretary to provoke a reaction, letting the female lead see…
“M–Mr. President, you… you-”
“I’m hungry.” His eyes flickered, meeting mine, his voice husky.
I almost fled, eyes wide with alarm, my feet instinctively backing away. Then, he added, “I mean, my stomach is hungry.”
“Oh, oh, you’re hungry! You scared me half to death,” I breathed a sigh of relief, feeling incredibly awkward.
I quickly ordered room service, piling on the food, afraid of misjudging his tastes.
After hanging up, I noticed he’d put his watch back on. He knew exactly what I was thinking!
“Ms. Frost, remember, Zach used to handle all this before you did,” he said coolly, reminding me to curb my fantasies.
Before I could react, I blurted out, “Zach also had to do this?”
He waved dismissively.“Get out.”
After leaving, in a moment of impulsive frustration, I banged my head against the wall. Zach saw me, startled. Evan had called for him, so he went to his room.
As soon as Zach entered, he said, “Mr. President, did Ms. Frost drink too? I saw her banging her head against the wall in the hallway.”
Evan rubbed his temples, giving Zach some work details. The room service arrived. Zach was hungry too, so Evan had him join him for dinner.
“Olivia was winning so well, why did you take over?” Evan asked casually after finishing his meal.
Zach chuckled, “She’s incredibly bold. I was worried at first, but then she got into the zone, going all–in on a hand, nearly giving me a heart attack. I had no choice but to make an excuse to send her away. She thought she was a poker god…”
Evan’s eyes narrowed.“She left the room?”
