As Evan and Zach left the hotel, a man in a dark blue shirt, with a menacing expression, approached, followed by several others. Evan didn’t notice, but Zach did and stepped in front, blocking him.“Mr. Shaw!”
“Where’s my wife?” Julian was tense, aggressive, like a cornered lion.
“She’s vanished,” Evan said calmly, his gaze cold and detached, with an air of inherent superiority.
“What do you mean, she’s vanished?” Julian’s knuckles cracked.
Zach quickly explained that Olivia was Evan’s secretary, and she had gone to the factory and hadn’t returned. Her phone was unreachable.
Julian’s blood pressure shot up upon learning Olivia was Evan’s secretary. Evan’s car was already at the curb. Ignoring Julian, he got in and drove away, followed closely by Julian.
Zach glanced in the rearview mirror.“How did Julian find out? Gary supposedly handled everything.”
“If someone wants to find someone, they will,” Evan wasn’t surprised. He was more concerned about Olivia’s whereabouts.“What exactly did she discover yesterday?”
Zach relayed Olivia’s findings. Evan’s face changed.“Why didn’t you explain this clearly this morning! If there was something fishy, she went to investigate; do you think they’d let her leave easily?”
Evan worriedly rubbed his forehead.“Tell everyone, if we don’t have news of Ms. Frost within the hour, the entire management of the branch office and factory will be dismissed.”
Zach’s heart pounded.“What’s the reason?”
Evan: “No reason. They dared to touch someone under my nose; that shows they don’t respect me.”
My hands were tied behind my back, my mouth taped shut. It was pitch black, the sound of crashing waves in my ears, the smell of rotting wood and dampness in the air.
That afternoon at the factory, Derek sent someone to pick up the couple. After half an hour, he told me they were waiting at a nearby restaurant. I thought they wouldn’t dare do anything in broad daylight, so I went. Before reaching the restaurant, I was knocked unconscious in an alleyway.
I woke up here, locked in. After what felt like ages, the door creaked open… A sliver of moonlight shone in, illuminating the malicious smile of the person who entered… It was him!
