All eyes turned to Evan. Those standing in front of him hastily moved aside. The factory workers had never seen him before, but the authority he exuded silenced everyone.
Evan, his face grim, walked to the center of the conference table.“Have you found her?” His gaze swept across the room; silence reigned.
Factory Manager Derek, speaking for the group, replied, “Mr. President, we…. we haven’t found her yet.”
“You’re Derek?”
“Yes, sir.”
“I understand you were the one who met with Ms. Frost today. Therefore, you should know her whereabouts.” Evan’s voice was calm, yet heavy with pressure.
Derek’s heart pounded, his eyes darted, he struggled to breathe, but he forced himself to answer, “It was I who met with Ms. Frost. I was the one who saw her leave, but I only took her to the factory gate, then returned inside. I truly don’t know where she went after that.”
“Truly don’t know?” Evan leaned forward, his finger tapping the table, his sharp gaze fixed on him.“What if I show you proof you’re lying?”
Derek’s face went pale. “No… no, Mr. President, I’m not lying! I truly don’t know where Ms. Frost is.”
Evan remained silent, but that single question exposed everyone’s deception. Olivia’s disappearance was undoubtedly connected to them.
Julian, his fury boiling over, didn’t bother with niceties. He grabbed Derek by the collar. “Where is my wife? What did you do to her!”
“Who… who are you? Let go!” Derek gasped for air.
“BANG!” Julian slammed Derek’s head against the table.
Everyone was stunned. Some tried to intervene, but Evan’s gaze stopped them. They understood that Julian’s actions were tacitly approved.
Julian grabbed Derek’s hair, lifting his head.“Tell me, where is my wife?”
