Did the recorder actually exist? Was she bluffing? Her hands and feet were tied; how could she have hidden the recorder under the coffee table? But she survived a jump into the ocean… Zoey’s mind was a whirlwind.
Just as he was deciding whether to gamble, Olivia gasped as if suddenly remembering something.“Oh, right, my recorder automatically saves and uploads to the cloud every ten minutes. Do you have a laptop?”
Evan immediately had someone fetch a laptop. Zoey’s face turned white; his mental defenses crumbled.
The laptop arrived quickly. Olivia logged into her cloud storage.“Here it is.” She lifted her eyelids, giving Zoey a confident smile, and tapped the screen.

“Don’t play it!!” Zoey lunged forward, snatching the laptop and clutching it to his chest.“Ms. Frost, let’s talk this over.” Olivia sneered.“You tried to rape me, and you wanted to keep mé imprisoned. If I hadn’t jumped from the second floor into the sea, would I be sitting here now?”
“You misunderstood.”
“Enough nonsense! Have the guts to open the laptop and let everyone listen!”
“Ms. Frost, I have elderly parents and children to support! Please, let me go! I’ll kneel and apologize!”
“Let you go? Did you ever think of letting me go? I’m an only child. My parents would be heartbroken if they knew that disgusting creep almost violated me.” She grew increasingly agitated, ordering someone to grab the laptop. Driven to desperation, Zoey hugged the laptop tightly, yelling, “I was trying to save you! I… I admit I said some vulgar things, but I was joking! Forgive my momentary lapse in judgment.”
“Die, you dog! Forgive you? Unless you castrate yourself right now, I won’t forgive you!”
“Olivia! Don’t push it! Nothing actually happened between us! I happened to pass by, and I said a few things while rescuing you. Is that a crime?”
“You were joking‘ while groping my leg?”
“I was checking for injuries.”
The verbal sparring revealed that Zoey had confessed! He’d been to the house and had indeed assaulted Olivia! Everyone looked at him with contempt. Ann Maxwell was utterly stunned.
