Chapter 51
Steve, hearing this, coldly hummed. “The truth is clear. Evan, handle this properly. Report it to the police, take appropriate action, don’t be lenient.”
Zoey slumped to the floor. Steve turned to Olivia. Ms. Frost, you’re brave.” He knew she hadn’t actually left the recorder; it was a bluff. But she was clever, playing the part perfectly, courageous and resourceful–a true talent. “Ms. Frost, welcome to Jones Group.”
Olivia felt a surge of excitement, overwhelmed, then her head “thumped against the table. Evan quickly caught her, discovering she’d fainted.
Her eyes closed, she felt herself falling into a warm embrace, smelling the pleasant scent of agarwood, wanting to shed all her armor and be a helpless little girl.
But the next moment, a voice that made her heart race reached her ears:“Olivia, my wife…”
Julian? No, no, no, it’s a hallucination.
Three AM, at Singapore’s best private hospital. Olivia slept soundly in her bed. Evan and Julian sat on separate sofas, Ann Maxwell nestled behind Evan. Zach had long since fled this battlefield.
Apparently, when Olivia fainted, Evan carried her out. Ann Maxwell chased after them, encountering Julian, who tried to take Olivia from Evan. While this happened, Olivia had clung to Evan’s clothes.
“Olivia deliberately angered me to get that job at your company. I’ve had her resignation processed,” Julian said coldly and arrogantly.
“I don’t concern myself with her private affairs. Resignation is fine, she can submit it herself,” Evan replied politely, his tone distant and calm.
Julian glared at Evan, radiating anger. The thought of Olivia clinging to Evan’s clothes, the surge of crisis, made him want to take her back to Chicago and lock her away. It was Evan! He had to separate them!
Seven AM, Olivia woke up. Julian rushed to the bedside, stroking her hair. Olivia tried to dodge, but she was too slow. She loathed him touching her hair; those were the hands that had touched Rita.
“What are you doing here? The divorce papers are with you,” she said coldly, pushing his hand away.
