Chapter 65
Hearing about the incident that caused her injuries, Sherry worried she was experiencing a bad year and insisted on taking her to a temple to pray once she recovered.
In the evening, Olivia watched the sunset from the balcony. Sherry went out to buy groceries.
Olivia’s phone rang–an unfamiliar number from Chicago. She frowned, hung up, and blocked the number.
At the hospital, Julian asked He Rui about the house. “It’s bought. Mrs. Shaw is on the 13th floor; a unit on the 20th floor is available, the transfer is complete. You can move in anytime.”
Julian patted him on the shoulder. He couldn’t let her live in the same building as Evan.
A cry came from Rita’s room. Julian entered; Rita’s cheeks were swollen, her lip bleeding, tears in her eyes. “Julian Gege…” she reached out, her voice soft.
Julian’s tone was cold but gentler than before. Rita’s heart leaped; she reached out again.“Julian Gege, can I hug you?” Julian hesitated before going in. Rita clung to him, breathing rapidly, her hand on his back, kneeling to unbutton his
pants…
“Stop!!” Julian remembered Olivia’s expression when she burned their marriage certificate and pushed her away, turning to leave.
Rita angrily punched the bed.
Sherry had just returned with groceries when a call came from home; her mother had hurt her back. She told Olivia she had to go home.
Going downstairs, she ran into Zach. Ms. Frost’s injury qualifies as a work injury. She’ll be alone tonight. Since you’re in the same building, maybe you could help?”
