Olivia’s face flushed crimson. She stammered, “Oh, I thought you wanted me to… to clean. I can’t do that now because of my leg.”
Evan remained silent, arms crossed, leaning against his desk, an enigmatic expression suggesting he understood her but wasn’t eager to expose her. After a while, he suddenly laughed, teasingly saying, “Ms. Frost, you were thinking quite nicely.”
Olivia felt her face burning. Was he implying she was fantasizing about him? Extremely uncomfortable, she lowered her head, opening the file, hastily changing the subject.“What do I need to do? I’ll start right away.”
Evan didn’t press further, sitting opposite her, giving her some work instructions before resuming his own work. For a full hour, Olivia didn’t look up, completely focused. Evan occasionally glanced at her, a slight smile playing on his lips.
Gary, busy in the kitchen, came out once, finding no one, wondering why the Sir hadn’t returned yet. He had no idea the Sir had taken her to work.
He only called when dinner was ready and still no one was around. Five minutes later, Evan pushed Olivia out of the study; she looked completely deflated and dazed.
They went to the dining room; Gary happily pulled out a chair. Evan pushed her toward it, bending down to lift her, then hesitated, tilting his head. “If I lift you, you won’t mind, right?”
Olivia wanted to die. Gary didn’t pick up on the teasing tone. “Hehe, I can manage in my wheelchair,” she said awkwardly.
“Looks like you’re overthinking it again,” Evan said, straightening up.
Dinner was exceptionally lavish. Olivia channeled her frustration into her appetite, consuming the soup and dishes with gusto; Evan couldn’t even get a piece of meat before she snagged it. Gary was immensely satisfied seeing her eat so heartily.
“Is it that good? Here, have another piece. They’re all yours,” Evan offered her the last piece of meat.
Olivia finally put down her chopsticks, meeting his smiling gaze, realizing she’d been too unrestrained. She slowed her eating.
Gary poured her another bowl of chicken soup. Olivia thanked him, complimenting, “Gary, were you a chef before? Your cooking is delicious!”
Gary beamed. Olivia asked about the recipes; they chatted animatedly. Gary said, “If you like my cooking, come every day.”
