Chapter 80
Мери
From the backseat of the white car that had just passed them, Rita rolled down the window and yelled, “Julian Gege!” Jiang Wenhui sat beside her. Julian ignored her, his gaze cold.
“Rita is here. She’s calling you. Can’t you hear her?” Olivia reminded him. Julian didn’t react. Rita chased after the car, like a lunatic. Jiang Wenhui sat impassively in the car.
Julian’s car sped away. Rita slumped to the curb, staring at the barely visible black speck, her eyes filled with vicious jealousy and frantic desperation. She wanted to tear Olivia apart. She’d worked so hard to keep Julian by her side for a few days, only to find him with Olivia again… No! Absolutely not! Julian was hers; she had to get him back!
An inconspicuous van followed Julian’s car. Three minutes later, Evan received a voice message:“Ms. Frost has been taken by her husband. I’m following them. Should I stop his car and rescue her?”
Evan frowned, replying, “Keep following.” He didn’t know Julian’s state of mind; a hasty intervention could be risky. On the highway, Olivia, noticing the speed nearing 90 mph, nervously grabbed her seatbelt, pleading, “Can you slow down?”
“Are you afraid? I thought you weren’t afraid of anything,” Julian said indifferently.
Olivia mentally cursed him, smiling awkwardly.“I only have one life, and I cherish it. You should too. Life is long; everything passes. Don’t get emotional; don’t be impulsive.”
Julian swerved sharply onto a small road. Olivia’s heart nearly leaped out of her chest. Trees lined both sides; the sky was darkening.
“Can I know where we’re going?” she asked cautiously.
Julian:“I don’t know.”
Five minutes of silence passed. She said, “Actually, we don’t have any deep–seated hatred, right? You made a mistake that most men make, and I’m just a stubborn woman. We had a beautiful love, but time eroded it. We’re just going our separate ways. I don’t resent you, and you shouldn’t resent me.”
