Chapter 85

Evan wanted to throw her down. In the end, not only did he not throw her, he carried her down the hillside.
At the bottom, his car was parked nearby. He carried her to the passenger seat, went to the driver’s side, got in, and started the car. He’d driven here himself…
Olivia texted Sherry, telling her she was safe and on her way back to Chicago.
Sherry wondered who saved her. Reply: Who rescued you?
Olivia typed three words: Evan.
Sherry was ecstatic, seemingly shipping them: What?! Evan? He saved you? Is the boss showing a little too much concern for his employee?
Olivia: Because I’m a hero.
Sherry: If you become a hero again, will he propose?
Olivia:…
Sherry: With such great benefits, I don’t want to be a lawyer anymore. Should I ask if he’s hiring?
Olivia:…
Sherry: If he’s not interested in you, I’ll stand on my head and eat sh*t!
Olivia:…
Olivia: Don’t eat anything disgusting. Believe it or not, he’s a genuinely good person; he likes saving people. And he I doesn’t like women anymore.
Sherry:…?
Olivia regretted it; whether he likes women or not, it was something he’d told her; spreading rumors was bad.
Evan saw her troubled expression.“Something wrong?”
Olivia quickly shook her head.“No, nothing.” She pressed her phone to her chest.
Evan narrowed his eyes.
Meanwhile, Julian returned with groceries, finding the empty car and the rummaged trunk. He threw the bag to the ground. He thought about the potential dangers on the road; she was so beautiful… He panicked.
He ran to find her. Sherry’s car pulled up behind him, nearly hitting him. She slammed on the brakes.
Getting out, she said, “Are you trying to kill yourself? Running in the middle of the road at…” She stopped, seeing who
it was.
Julian opened the passenger door, seeing no one, then checked the backseat.“Where’s Olivia?”
“How should I know? I was just passing by.”
“Don’t lie. Where is she?!”
“Mr. Shaw, I really don’t know. It’s eleven o’clock; I have court tomorrow.” Sherry yawned.
Julian got into the car. Sherry was speechless.“… You think this is your car, and I’m your driver? Get out!”
Julian ignored her. Sherry buckled her seatbelt.“Fine, you don’t believe me. Then sit there and see if I’m helping your
ex–wife.”
The words “ex–wife” made Julian’s eyes narrow. Sherry started the car.
