Chapter 88
I was helpless, I picked up my chopsticks and began the “clean–plate” operation. Xiaxia was clearly smitten with Evan, completely captivated. No wonder, who could resist being gazed upon by such a handsome man, his alluring voice offering extra beef… It was like being under a spell. Even the owner seemed energized.
Sherry tried to force Julian to eat, but his sharp gaze intimidated her; she didn’t dare force him.
Leaving the ramen shop, Sherry was supporting me when Julian pushed her aside, taking over.
“Are you never going to stop?!” I pushed his hand away, whispering furiously.
Julian asked, “Don’t tell me you’re planning to run off with Evan.”
I replied, “Who I’m with is none of your business. We signed the divorce agreement; you’re delaying the process, that’s your problem! As far as I’m concerned, we’re over!” I pulled my hand away forcefully.
Julian grabbed my wrist.“It’s not over for me.”
Evan, standing in the night, clicked his tongue softly.“I can’t listen to those lines three times in a row.”
Sherry sighed. “If this were a novel, it’d be considered padding. One wants a divorce, one doesn’t–an endless loop.”
Evan paused.“I’ll take Julian; you take Olivia.”
Sherry agreed, nodding, then looking at Evan, exclaiming at his height. Standing so close, at 5’7“, she had to look up. She imagined being held by him and felt a warmth spread through her. She stared at him, eyes sparkling, her voice soft, “Mr. Jones, if you and Yan Yan don’t work out… do you think I have a chance…”
Evan tilted his head, his tone casual, indifferent, and ruthless.“Oh, I’m not interested in women.” His tone was like someone asking him if he wanted fruit, and he said no.
Sherry was stunned.“Not! Interested! In! Women!” What Yan Yan said was true? He really didn’t like women? Then he… likes men? What a waste!
Ignoring her frantic thoughts, Evan walked towards me and the still–bickering Julian. He put an arm around Julian’s shoulder, like calming a child.“I won’t take her. I’ll take you, okay?”
Julian paused.
Evan continued, “You’re out of gas. It’s hard to get a cab here at night. The divorce can wait; it won’t affect the outcome.” He gently pushed Julian towards his car.
Evan was taller than Julian. Evan had a cool, handsome look, while Julian was more rugged and masculine. Julian should have more presence. But next to Evan, Julian was overshadowed; Evan’s aura was unmatched.
Julian blocked Evan’s arm, turning to see Sherry’s car beside me. He tried to stop me, but Evan held him back. It was enough time for me to get in the car.
“Olivia!” Julian roared at the departing car. He wasn’t angry that I was with Sherry; he was angry that I’d escaped him again.
Evan patted his shoulder.“Mr. Shaw, don’t disturb the neighbors at night. Let’s go.”
Julian glared at Evan, his eyes filled with hatred.
Around 2 AM, Sherry and I returned to Chicago. I went to her place, re–bandaged my slightly reopened wound, and quickly showered. I fell asleep the moment my head hit the pillow.
When I woke up, it was noon the next day.
Sherry had already left.

On the coffee table, takeout breakfast was under a note: Don’t run around today, Stay home; I’ll feed you?
Warmth filled my chest. This girl never eats breakfast herself but always remembers mine. I opened the bag, started the TV, and watched a drama while eating.
