Riley wasn’t good at accepting
accepting apologies. She hesitated, withdrawing her hand.
“I didn’t help you to hear that, but thank you. Off you go.”
“Thank you…” Shan bowed and left.
Riley walked Shan out and then saw Chase. She kept him at arm’s length. He was 26 and looked more aggressive than before. His intense gaze was so intimidating that she felt uncomfortable. After a long silence, Riley said,“Mr. Walker, anything else? My time is valuable.”

Riley was reminded of their high school pact. She looked away, her voice cold.“I don’t want anything related to you. And you majored in finance, not aerospace, right? It does make it easier for you to take over the family business.”

Chase was hurt by her attitude.“I didn’t mean that. I just want you to forgive me for the sake of our family…”
“I have nothing to do with the Davis family,” she said, opening the door.“Please.”
