The car pulled into the underground parking garage. Riley parked near Alex’s villa. “We’re here,” she said softly, reminding herself this reunion was coming to an end. Alex, still sleepy, mumbled,“Mm–hmm.”
He put his hat and mask back on before getting out. Riley lowered her window to say goodbye.
“Goodbye.”
he didn’t use a title. She didn’t know what to call him, nor did she know if they’d meet again. Alex didn’t speak, but as she raised her window, he stopped her.
“Riley.”
Riley paused, looking at him. There wasn’t much light; her gaze held an unspoken longing. Alex asked, “Why did you leave without saying goodbye?”
Riley hadn’t expected this. She paused, then replied softly, “I’m sorry, I’m not good at goodbyes,” “I understand,” Alex said, his lips curving slightly, but he didn’t seem happy. He glanced at her and then left.
Riley took a deep breath and drove away.

Alex’s career wasn’t just his own; it shouldn’t be affected by her.
So Riley left after her studies ended.
She even asked her advisor to write a letter of recommendation, that was how she connected with Evelyn.
Riley wasn’t lying; she truly wasn’t good at goodbyes.
Her relationship with Alex was rather ambiguous.
She was not his fan, nor was she his friend.
It was best to stick to an employer–employee relationship.

But she did admire him.
There was a time when Riley’s life and studies weren’t going smoothly. She was alone and had to study and work simultaneously.
For a long time, she relied on one film to get through this.
Alex had exceptionally good figure and an outstanding appearance. In the film, him sitting on the bed instantly caught her eye.
The blues filter and dim lighting seemed tailor–made for him.
h the film, he was shirtless, with a cigarette hanging from his lips. It was a Camel
