<Live with a system) Chapter 3

Riley’s eyes were completely red. Her throat tightened; she was speechless, overwhelmed by anger and sadness.
The system issued another mission.“Mission Three: Try your best to prove your innocence.”
This
gave Riley courage. She took a deep breath and spoke loudly, “Mr. Henderson, it wasn’t me! They put the worm in my textbook first! If you don’t believe me, check the security cameras.” The boys‘ faces fell. Chase watched Riley’s back, his eyes narrowed in displeasure. Riley didn’t notice that. She just looked at Mr. Henderson.
Mr. Henderson sighed. “It’s not a big deal, Riley. Sit down.”
Riley sat down and whispered to the system,“Did
The system seemed to be chuckling.“Of course.”
I complete the mission?”
Chase kicked Riley’s chair with a sneer.”Riley, you’ve got some backbone now.”
She didn’t respond.
That afternoon, the first practice test scores were posted. Riley was second in her class and fifth in the grade. Chase was first, as expected. Last year, they planned to study aerospace at MIT together. Now, Riley didn’t want anything to do with him.
Chloe stood beside Riley. Her name wasn’t on the board, but she was staring at it.
She looked at Riley and said, “Riley, you’re amazing. After all this, you still did well in the exam.”
Her sweet tone sent shivers down Riley’s spine.
That evening, when Riley returned home, she found her brother Ethan sitting on the couch. He looked cold and distant.
She whispered, “Ethan…”
He
interrupted, “Chloe said you got yourself in trouble at school again?”
His voice was icy. He didn’t sound like he was talking to his sister, but to an enemy.
Riley’s face paled. Ethan had once been the best brother in the world. After their parents died, he knelt at their graves and vowed to take care of her.
Two years ago, Chloe, a girl their parents had sponsored, moved into their house. At first Ethan just treated her politely but gradually he was impressed by her enthusiasm. Before Riley could react, he had put Chloe first in everything.
Riley panicked. She told Ethan she didn’t want Chloe living with them, but he just yelled at her, “Riley, I never taught you to be jealous.” That night, Chloe found thumbtacks in her closet. and pillowcase and accused Riley for that. Ethan, without even investigation, locked Riley out of the villa and left her out in the rain all night.
The next day, Ethan said to Riley, who was shivering from cold, “Don’t do it again! If you don’t want to live with Chloe, you move out.”
Seeing Riley silent, Ethan frowned.
“I didn’t expect you to bully Chloe not only at home but also at school. Looks like you really hate living with her.”

Riley felt like she was suffocating. She couldn’t speak; she knew he wouldn’t listen.
The system said, “Host, Mission Four: Agree to move out.”
