Riley saw Chloe running away, crying. Chase immediately let go of her and chased after Chloe! A strange sense of loss came over Riley, and soon it was gone…
After the practice test, they had a short break. The school arranged them a field trip to a state park. Riley sat by the lake, closing her eyes.
A shadow fell over her. She opened her eyes and saw Chloe.
Chloe sat beside her, saying, “Riley, are you settling in okay living alone?” ley ignored her. Chloe continued, “Losing three important people must be hard.”
Riley stood up.“Chloe, you’re the one who caused it.”
Chloe got up, smiling.“Yes, it makes me happy that you’re unhappy.”
Then, her eyes flashed, and she stumbled backward into the lake! Riley tried to grab her but missed.
A student screamed, “Chloe fell in the lake!”
Chase rushed over and jumped into the lake. Riley was still stunned when he pulled Chloe out. Before she could say anything, someone pointed at her.“I saw it! Riley pushed Chloe!”
Riley was horrified. Chase’s face was grim.“I was too nice to you.”
His gaze pierced her; she felt hurt.
She cried, “I didn’t!” But no one believed her.
Chase carried the unconscious Chloe away. Riley followed them.
At the hospital, Chloe was taken to the emergency room. After a long wait, hurried footsteps sounded. Riley turned and saw Ethan, whose face was filled with panic. She’d never seen him like this before.
He rushed to the ER, asking urgently, “How’s Chloe?!”
Chase replied grimly, “She’ll be fine.”
Ethan breathed a sigh of relief, then looked coldly at Riley. Riley wanted to explain, but Ethan slapped her.
Riley covered her face. Ethan was so annoyed that he looked like he wanted to kill her. Then, he said what Chase had said, “If anything happens to Chloe, I won’t let you go.” Riley’s heart sank. When they were little, Ethan was the one who would always side with her and clean up her mess. Now, he didn’t believe her anymore.
Tears streamed down Riley’s face. She trembled.“Ethan, do

Riley felt a gaping hole in her heart. The system said, “Host, Mission Five: disown…” Riley wiped her tears and slapped him in the face.“You had it coming. It’s been 17 years… I thought you’d always be there for me…”
She bit her lip, adding, “This is the last
time I treat you as my brother.”
