He let out a breath. I’m just glad you’re not lart. Thes”
“I’m glad ton” I admitted
He bumised, his eyes still taking over my body. I was in close to him that it wouldn’t take much for him to
wrap his arms around me.
“What weete you doing all that time?” Lasked. “When you left the bathroom. What were you doing?”
Quentin didn’t answer immediately, too focused on the even breaths that were leaving me. He was focused on my scent judging by the clouded look in
“Sometimes I wonder how it is that you’ve always smelled this good.” He sighed, his eyes never leaving mine.
“Thank you?” I couldn’t hold back my smile.
He grunted in reply, inching even c
even closer to me. Ilad the bathroom always been this hot? It felt like all I was aware of was Quentin and his strong arms that could encase me in a cage of warmth if he so pleased
“No need to thank me. I’m just stating what should be facts.” Quentin shrugged.
1 hummed, eyeing him carefully. “Have you found the evidence you’ve been looking for?”
Quentin who had been momentarily dazed turned to me. “Huh?”
The evidence,” I continued. “Have you found it?”
He thought on it for a while. “Not exactly. But there’s something else I want to ask you.”
“Oh?” I leaned my head to the side. “What’s that?”
He closed the distance between us, his body pressed hard against mine. I could feel the slow heaving of his chest as he took in air. Our bodies were dangerously close to each other that I could almost feel the steady thump of his heart beat.
“Are you the Alpha of Ghost Pack?
To my own credit, I maintained a calm expression. The question had been a bit surprising but I expected that much from Quentin. He was smart, intelligent and someone who’s wit always shone in the most expected places.
“Maybe I am.” I said with a smirk. “And what are you going to do about it?
Quentin’s eyes searched through mine, looking for something that would prove the conviction he was having. But I’d become an expert at this game.
He finally let out a breath after some seconds. His nose wrinkled a bit the longer he took in my scent.
“What’s wrong?” I frowned. “Do I smell bad?”
He shook his head. “No, it’s just–you should take another shower.”
“Why?” I asked curiously.
“You smell like Harlor.” He said, an unamused look behind his eyes
I couldn’t help the smile that tugged at my lips, Hearing him confess that with that look of discomfort in his eyes was like a huge win to me. This was the first time I would have a win over Quentin.
“So is that you admitting your defeat?” I asked, still smiling.

“Tinish up with your bath.” He said calmly. There’s something we have to discuss”
I narrowed my eyes on him. “And what’s that?”
He didn’t bother with a reply and simply grabbed a towel from the rack to dry himself. After a moment be turned back to look a
“It’s something important. That’s all I can say.”
I watched as he left the bathroom. Never quite one to not say the last word, I scolded him as he left. “That’s why you still don’t have a mute even though you’re this old.”
I huffed after the bathroom door slammed shut. I quickly changed out of the dry clothes and put on a fresh change I had.
When I came out of the bathroom, Quentin was seated on one of the chairs, His hair was mostly dry and his clothes were about the same.

“So what’s up?” I took the seat beside him.
He regarded me for some minutes before finally speaking up. “We’ve made some progress with Claire’s investigation.”
“Okay,” I nodded my head, waiting for him to go on with the explanation.
“We found out that she was indeed a spy.” He explained. “She says she was sent by Ghost Pack”
