Chapter 108
Chapter 108
And he’d just flicted with me a while ago. Even trying to serve me at the table. All this time, the Queen Lona was ready to choose a consort for him because of her own personal goals. I could taste the familiar bitterness of being deceived once again.
Π
Later that night after Olavir eventually left. I couldn’t help but think about a lot of things. Harlor would be leaving for the horder soon. Quentin was cold and always had his business interests at the forefront of everything.
And then Askhan. He would be choosing a consort sons. It was like someone loud twisted a knife into my chest. Before I realized it, the tears had begun to drop down my face
Moon God. What did I ever do to get this kind of punishment?
Π
“Mommy.” I turned to see Emma watching me with a worried expression. Without a word, I opened my arms and allowed her to bury her head into my neck.
It felt good having my daughter in my arms. Funny how I was the one crying and she was trying to comfort me.
The next morning, I woke up
up to the smell of food wafting through the air. Emma’s side of the bed was empty. I blinked the sleep out of my eyes and fished out a robe before making my way downstairs.
Askhan was already making breakfast in the kitchen. He whipped his head to look at me, a small smile growing on his face.
“Good morning, Thea.” He greeted
“Good morning.” I replied in a low tone.
In a matter of time. Askhan would have a consort by his side. I should feel happy for him but at this moment, all I could focus on was the emptiness his absence would bring.
For a moment, he stopped what he was doing and simply stared at me. I broke the silence by clearing my throat.
“You don’t need to prepare breakfast for me, Askhan” I finally said.
He frowned. “Why?”
“What I did back at the club, 1 went on. “It was something any werewolf in the pack would do. It’s our duty towards you as the Alpha Prince. You don need to feel indebted to me because of that”
“Where’s all this coming from?” He dropped the skillet.
nt on “Secondly, even though we’re childhood friends, there’s nothing forcing you to always be there for me all the time since I ignored him and went we’ve grown up together. And lastly, you’ll have a consort by your side in a matter of time. I think before then, we need distance.”
A look of horror washed over his face as he stared at me. “Thea. Have you misunderstood something?”
“There’s nothing to be misunderstood.” I answered coolly, despite the way my heart seemed to rage in my chest.
“You’re going to have your consort soon and I don’t want to get in the way of that I also don’t want any sliver of false hope so I believe it’ll be best if w both keep our distance.”
Askhan shook his head before closing the distance between us. When I tried to back away, he reached for my hand.
“There’s a reason I wanted to make breakfast for you
this morning, And it sure as
it sure as hell wasn’t out of some obligation or anything like that.” He insisted
I folded my
y arms, waiting for him to go on. He sighed. “I’m grateful for your protection that night. If I had gotten injured back then, it could have all blown up into a war, You didn’t just protect me that day. Thes. You protected the stability of the pack For that, I’m really grateful to you*
“You’re welcome.” I nodded, trying to put on an unbathered front.

“Secondly,” he went on. “We’ve been friends for as long as I can remember. Then, I don’t remember a time where I didn’t have you in my life. Being childhood friculs obviously doesn’t mean I’m obligated to make breakfast for each other.”
He took another step closer. “But what if it’s more than that
My brows for Lowed. “What do you mean?”
“What if it’s more than us being there for each other as childhood friends? What if it’s something more Thea?”
The whole room seemed to thicken with Askhan’s scent as he watched me. He was an Alpha, undeniably so, and this meant that the aura that surrounded him was menacingly strong.
1 felt my legs shake under the weight of his gaze. Of course, they didn’t last long; before giving out underneath me.
“Whoa,” Askhan grabbed me before I reached the ground. His eyes seemed to glisten with something I couldn’t quite put a finger on. “I’ve got you.”
