It was Askhan. As soon as Madison saw him, she burst into tears and made her way towards him
Pointing at us, she went on. “I just wanted to say hi to Then and she–she hurt me so bad.”
Askban turned to me expectantly, an odd look passing through his eyes. It was almost like he was silently waiting to hear me out and what I had to explain
“Well?” He finally said. “What do you have to say?”
I didn’t have any strength left in me to even explain to him. Holding his gaze proved even harder. He looked like he was silently pleading with me to say something, prove him otherwise in whatever way I could.
“I did it.” I said calmly, “I was the only way I could protect Tina.”
He slowly nodded, a conflicted look in his eyes. “And yet I saw Tina hit her.”
The frustration and annoyance was already eating at me. I already told him I did it and was ready to take the blame for what happened. Left to me, I wanted to take the blame alone and leave the girls out of this.
“If you’re going to punish anybody, punish me.” I insisted.
“But Tina was involved.” Askban interjected. “It wouldn’t be fair for me to heap all the blame on you when I saw everything that happened.”
I couldn’t help the irritation that was rising beneath my skin, Why was he being so insistent? Then my gare landed on Madison who was still clinging to
him
That pitiful act of hers could barely mask the satisfaction on her face. She was probably enjoying every single second of this. I didn’t blame her for this. Things were going in the exact way she wanted it to go.
She was Askhan’s choice for consort. Was it her face? She was indescribably pretty. It was no doubt that he had ended up choosing her.
“Can you believe she had the audacity to do this?!” Bella yelled in anger.
She turned back to me, levelling a hateful glare at all of us. “She disrespected the Queen Luna and now she brought her whole group to attack the
consort.”
“Don’t talk to my cousin like that.” Tina stepped forward, her face contorted in anger.
“Or what? Shut up when people with brains are talking, you blonde bimbo.” Bella scoffed.
Tina’s patience reached its limit and before I could react, she had already shoved Bella to the side.
“Do not ever talk about Thea like that. Else you’ll have to answer to me.” She said, her voice cold yet bolding a certain menace that made me shiver.
Askhan who had been quietly watching all this the whole time finally turned to me. “Is there nothing you can do about this? Won’t you defend Tina? I thought she was your cousin.”
My eyes narrowed down on him. “She is. I see no reason why that’s your problem.”
“Well, I just believe-

His silence made me contine. “I refused the invitation to be your consort and you know the reason why. You’re someone I consider my friend, Askhan, and I honestly can’t believe you’re standing for this”

Askhan sighed, turning to one of the guards “Take them back to the palace.”
Bella whipped her head to him, an obvious look of displeasure in her eyes. Before they could say anything else, the guards were already whisking them away.
“My prince.” Madison cried but Askhan barely even looked her way.
I expected him to turn to me, maybe say something else but he remained silent. Without sparing me a second glance, he followed after them.
For a while, 1 simply stood there and stared past the door he had gone through. He didn’t comfort me unlike how he usually does whenever the situation got tense.
