Chapter 123
Chapter 123
Quentin spared a quick glance at me. Maybe he had noticed the look on my face, but something seemed
to shift in him.
A low growl left his lips. Before I could get a word in, he had stepped on the gas, bringing the car to a pretty high speed.
My grip on the arm rest tightened as I turned to him. “Do you mind slowing down?”
He didn’t say anything for a while, simply staring ahead while he drove as fast as he could. I could already feel my heart pounding against my chest.
Why was he going so fast? The fear was already gnawing at me as he increased his speed even more.
When I turned to him, he looked like he annoyed. I’d rarely ever seen him lose his cool no matter the situation we were in.
Which was why I couldn’t hold back my surprise the longer I stared at him. “Hey. If you’re ready to die, then by all means go ahead. But don’t take me with you. My brothers would have your head if they found out about this.”
We were approaching a really long bend and with how fast Quentin was going, I was already mentally bracing myself for impact.
Quentin swerved to the right, gracefully drifting through the turn with the practiced ease of someone who had been at this for quite some time now.
I was a bit shock where I sat. My gaze flicked to Quentin. Seeing him in such a state with his hair ruffled and a wild look in his eyes sent a wave of something else through me.
I never thought I’d ever get to see this side of him. For the longest time since I’d known him, he had always struck me as a dark and cold capitalist tycoon whose sole focus was his business and nothing
more.
Never in my life would I have thought he had a wild side. And something like this too. Eventually, he brought the car to a steady pace and pressed on ahead.
When I sighed the estate from a distance, I felt my heart thrum even faster against my chest.
“Why are we coming here?” I turned to him.

“You’ll see.” He simply replied.
My heart was still thudding against my chest as we drove into the estate. When last had I been at this
place?
“Askhan set me up back then.”
I turned to Quentin. He finally turned to me, his eyes glinting with something unreadable. “He said he was going to film my affair with you and make a completely big deal about it.”
Quentin unbuckled his seatbelt and leaned over to me. With how close he was, I could smell the cologne
he had used.
“Might as well just go ahead with it and as you to be my companion.” He added.
My heart stopped for the faintest second. He wanted me to be his mate?
My heart was beating so hard and loud against my chest that it seemed to be the only thing I could focus on. Quentin seemed pretty much unaware of the effect he was having on me with just those words.
“What?”
He cocked his head to the side. “Well, I need someone I can trust to efficiently do their job as well as hold their own end of the bargain. You’d make the perfect business partner.”
It was like someone had doused me in cold water and brought me back to reality. My heart came to a steady pace and I finally had a bit of clarity.
“I can’t do that.” I said in a calm tone.
His brows furrowed. He probably hadn’t been expecting that answer. “Why?”
Before I could answer, he continued. “It’s okay if you don’t recognize your identity. That’s completely fine. But the amount of money that’s coming from being in charge of a pack is far more than you can imagine.”
“And what do I stand to gain by accepting this?” I folded my arms.
“You need to think hard about this, Thea.” Quentin pressed on. “If you accept this, you’re not going to be playing some game as a student this time around. No. You’re an adult this time around. Things have definitely changed. You’ll be taking on the responsibilities of an Alpha.”
For a while I remained silent, processing the words Quentin had just said and what it could possibly mean for me if I decided to accept it.

When he noticed my silence, Quentin let out a breath. The soft sound of music booming from the house drew my attention. Quentin seemed to have noticed the shift in my demeanor.
“There’s a party going on. That’s not the only reason why I brought you here though.” He explained.
I raised an eyebrow. “Oh, really?”
Quentin let out another sigh. He fished into the small nook in the car and brought out a check. He handed the check to me, a serious look in his eyes.
“Why are you giving me this?” I asked.
“Fill out whatever amount of money you want for the role you’re going to play. I’m serious about wanting you as my partner, Thea. It really doesn’t matter what I have to do. I’m going to make sure it works out.” Quentin said.
