Chapter 43
Chapter 43
I had regained the confidence that had always been with me right before I got married. My years in that horrible pack had dulled everything, but now, I was finally gening my spark back,
I wanted to tell them how I felt through my wolf, but the swelling pain in my chest reminded me that I couldn’t feel my
anymore.
I had to try desperately to suppress my dissimilarity and smile at the reporter.
While they continued to pass on the information to each other, I kept my ears focused on Askhan and Haelor who appeared to be having some sort of discussion.
“I wish she didn’t have to announce her divorce to the public.” Askhan said grimly.
“What’s the matter? Haelor sounded a bit intrigued.
“That man’s going to be back.” Askhan shook his head. That’s another competitor in the game.”
I turned out the rest of what they were saying and turned to complete my interview. After taking a few more questions, the interview finally came to an end.
“Thank you so much for giving us your time, Miss Thea.” One of the older journalists bowed his head a line to me
“It was a pleasure getting to have this interview.” I smiled.
With that, I moved away from the stage and headed to the backroom. It was then, I finally felt let out a breath I didn’t know I’d been
holding.
As I grabbed a bottle of water, my mind went back to the conversation I’d overhead. I knew who they were talking about
The man had been my former senior. I’d stupidly given up on him when he tried pursuing me all because of Magnus.
The man who had promised to give me the world yet he shattered mine.
I looked around for Askhan and Haelor, wondering where they could possibly be. Just when I was about to give up on searching for
them. I saw them at the far end of the room.
It seemed they were still deep in whatever conversation they’d been having before I got there. As I made my way towards them, their
voices died down to a hush
“Adella,” Askhan started. “You did amazing out there.”
“Thank you.” I replied, unable to hide the smile that beamed on my face.
“No need to thank us. It’s just a fact.” Haelor added
My cheeks were starting to hurt from how much I’d been smiling. Trust the two of them to know the right words to boost my confidence.
“About Emma,” Askhan continued. That got me to listen more attentively
“Your brothers have been taking turns in caring for her. They want you to know that she’s in safe hands.”

“I’m sure she’s having a great time too.” Harlor agreed.
Askhan nodded. “She’s being taught by the werewolf elders every day so rest assured, everything’s panning out pretty well.”
I let out a breath I didn’t know I’d been holding. “I’m relieved to hear she’s having a wonderful time with them.”
“Of course,” Askhan had a small smile on his face
Most of the studio workers were already packing up and calling it a day. I turned back to Askhan who was watching me attentively.
When do you want to go home? Haelor asked.
I processed his words, trying to form a fitting reply. It was hard ignoring how hard my heart seemed to hammer in my chest
Anxiety was a funny thing, one minute you were perfectly fine, the next your thoughts were spiralling into a bottomless pit.
I still couldn’t sense my wolf. If anything, that was seen as a stain the werewolf society. Still, I had to put on a strong face.
Looking like I had something weighting me down was not something I could afford now. My daughter needed me, and I refused to let anything hold me back from being the mother she deserved.
I think I
I’ll be going home now.” I replied, my voice clear and calm.
“Noted.” Haelor nodded his head
I was glad for my ability to put on a strong face. Letting them see how hard the weight of everything was on me was something 1 couldn’t afford. Not now, not ever
“Well let’s get going then.” Askhan piped up.
Haelor fished out his phone and made a call to someone. Judging by the way he spoke, it was obvious the person on the other line
was one of his subordinates
As soon as he ended the call, he turned to me. “Our ride should be here any minute from now.
I cocked my head in confusion, wondering how he’d managed to call someone so soon. Would the car head home quick enough?
I didn’t get to think hard on that thought as a loud sound reverberated through the room. Haelor grabbed my
hand
“Come on
