Chapter 53
A part of me wondered if this would have been my life if I had chosen to stick with Magnus. I shook my head just as soon as the thought came. That wasn’t something I’d wish on anyone. Well except my enemies of course.
“Getting it done was a piece of cake.”
My eyes widened as I turned to Jane. We quickly moved to a corner behind the wall, perfectly shielded from Magnus.
He slowly came into view, followed by Ashley who was listening to him attentively. There was a smirk on her face as she watched
him.
“That bitch had no clue.” She laughed.
“Taking that collection of hers was the easy part. Getting someone to buy in the black market wasn’t any different. That money was good.” He chuckled, his belly jiggling while he did.
“How’d you get it out of Steele Pack though?” Ashley asked.
“Pulled a few strings. Not hard if you used to be Alpha of the pack.” Magnus shrugged, a smirk on his face.
From where I hid, my hands trembled by my side. This bastard. I’d worked hard on that collection and he sold it like it was nothing.
It all clicked in my head. That was how he’d gotten the money to pay off Ashley’s debt and even bail her out of jail.
“She’s so fucking dumb” Ashley cackled
A retard is what she is.” Magnus smirked. “Couldn’t even see I was cheating on her the whole time. What a joke.”
I used to think Magnus was the most handsome man in the four corners of the kingdom. How terribly wrong I’d been.
Where there was once a chiselled jaw and face that looked like it had been sculpted by the goddess herself now laid a greasy robust
face.
Just staring at him made me feel disgusted all over again. How did I ever fall in love with this man?
I watched as he moved closer to her, grabbing her by the waist. T’ve never loved any woman as much as I love you, Ashley. Not now,
not ever.”
‘I love you too, babe.” Ashley grinned, wrapping her arms around his neck as he kissed her.
They were still sucking each other’s faces off when Magnus froze. My heart nearly stopped when his head whipped in our direction.
His face had been hardened as he moved away from Ashley who looked confused as ever.
“What’s wrong?” Ashley asked.
“Something stinks.” Magnus slowly said, inching closer and closer to where we were hiding
My heart was thundering in my chest as every second felt slower than the last I couldn’t sense my wolf at all and I couldn’t smell my surroundings as well.
Had he somehow gutten my scent?

Chapter 53
“Something definitely stinks”
There was a menace in Magnus’s tone that my hands tremble. Worst case scenario, he’d find us here. And I doubt, he’d let us walk away like that.
I closed my eyes, ready for the worst as he got painfully close to us. Jane’s hands had tightened by her side as she braced herself too.
The sound of chaos from outside pierced my ears and I opened my eyes. Magnus had turned away as well. Ills eyes narrowed into slits. It sounded like a lot of shouting and a bit of fighting?
Someone burst through the door. “Boss Magnus. There’s a lot of gamma werewolves out there!”
“What?” Magnus sounded pissed
“You gotta come, boss. The wolf sounded agitated as he led Magnus and Ashley outside.
I let out a breath I didn’t know I’d been holding. All my body tensed up as a thought hit me.
What if it was Haelor? Or one of my brothers?
“Shit.” Ashley cursed under her breath, bolting out of the house just as soon as Magnus left.
Using that as my chance, I came out of my hiding spot with Jane carefully following after me. We both exchanged glances with each other, the meaning behind the look in Jane’s eyes already clear.
“You don’t think…” Her voice trailed off as her face paled just a little.
1 shook my head and turned back to the door which Ashley had just run through. The sound of chaos still raged on from outside as the fighting got more serious.
“Come on,” I said to Jane. “We can’t let her get away.”
Not wasting a second, I hurried to follow the path Ashley had run through. We made haste in pursuing her, not giving her a single respite or breathing space to escape.
From a distance, I could spot her figure trying to disappear through the many corners of the whole place.
