Chapter 58
“So you just happened to find out I was there? And you weren’t following me?”
“Honestly,” Haelor insisted. “I didn’t know you were going to be there. News of Magnus’s activities just came to me and I had a feeling you might be there. I honestly didn’t mean to spy on you, Thea.”
His reason sounded valid, but that didn’t mean I was going to make it any easy for him. I let go of his chin, my eyes still narrowed on him.
“Oh really?” I asked.
His naturally pale face seemed to redden at my words. A small cough left his lips as he nodded. I
could barely get a word in when he reached for my hand.
“Thea, I-”
The door slid open and Lucian calmly walked in. Haelor immediately retreated his hand and turned
to regard Lucian.
“Don’t tell me my sister was bullying you again.” Lucian laughed.
Haelor’s eyes flicked to me briefly before he spoke. “Oh she has a valid reason to be mad.”
Lucian simply hummed before turning to me. “I believe you’re the one who’s naughty. You’re blaming Haelor for coming out to face something so dangerous?”
Lucian slowly walked closer to Haelor’s bed as he continued to speak. “He had serious injuries on his body yet he risked his life to save you. How dare you not thank him for that?”
“Come on, Lucian. It’s fine.” Haelor quickly cut in. “She’s right to be upset that I put myself in danger.
And I don’t think it’s nice to just heap all the blame on her when she should be left to her own
devices as she wills.”
Lucian’s gaze remained on me for a while before he smiled. “I guess you’re right. I won’t argue with
you on that since you’re still hospitalized Haelor.”
The general sent him a nod, grateful that he’d dropped it as well. My hands were clenched so that I’d unknowingly bunched up the fabric of my pants into my fists.
“Thank you, Haelor.” I said, my voice coming out lower than Lexpected.

He seemed surprised for a while before smiling. “It’s nothing.”
Lucian’s eyes gleamed with something unreadable as he slowly turned to the door. I turned to Haelor and sent him one final smile.
“Get some rest, alright?”
“I will, Thea.” Haelor said with a smile. “Thank you for staying with me.”
I forced a smile on my face before following Lucian out of the room. As soon as he shut the door behind us, the smile dropped from his face.
Now standing before him, I could get a better look at his figure. He had fair skin and pristine blonde hair that had been neatly parted into a nice undercut. His eyes were a deep ocean blue that seemed to force you in, reigning you into their depths.
He let out a breath, taking the gold glasses that rested on the bridge of his nose off.
“Well little princess, hurry up and start talking. What’s going on with you?”
Of all my brothers, the one person that intimidated me the most was Lucian. He was calmer and
more intelligent than the rest.
There was a silent aura to him that found a way of unnerving you without him even having to try.
On top of that he had the keen sensitivity and agility of a wolf. There was no way I’d be able to lie to
him without him realizing it.
“So why were you there?” He started. “Alone. Without everyone’s knowledge.”
When I didn’t answer immediately, he went on with what he’d been saying. “There’s something
you’re not telling us.”
There was no way I could hide the fact that I couldn’t turn into a wolf from him. He’d catch on immediately if I tried to lie.
“You’re right. There is something I haven’t been able to tell you guys.” I let out a sigh, feeling my
heart thrumming hard against my chest.
“Well let’s hear it then.” Lucian folded his arms, his eyes keen on me as he listened.
I let out another shaky breath, trying to fight back the nerves that were eating hard at me. It was

now or never. I’d hid it long enough.
“I can’t turn.”
Lucian’s didn’t look shock or have a reaction like I’d expected him to have. There was a calm look on
his face as he continued to study me.
“You can’t shift into a wolf?” He asked carefully.
I nodded. “I can’t.”
A small hum left his lips as he continued to watch me. “For how long?”
“Quite some time now.” I admitted, not wanting to hide the truth from Lucian.
He blew out a breath before his face hardened into a serious look. That was one of the things that
scared me about Lucian.
He was the one person I couldn’t predict, couldn’t even try to imagine what could be going through
his head.
