Stella quickened her pace, but just as she was about to get a clear view of that man, a woman wearing high heels blocked her
way.
“Stella, what a coincidence,” Sandra said.
Seeing Sandra here, Stella felt a bit surprised.
Sandra flicked her hair and proudly said, “I’m here to meet the boss of the Dalla Technology Group.”
Stella was taken aback and asked, “Have you met him?”
Sandra waved her phone and smiled, “I met him, and we exchanged numbers. He was very impressed with me and even asked me out to dinner. What about you? Are you also here to see him?”
Stella remained silent, furrowing her brow and pressing her lip.
Sandra patted her on the shoulder and cut to the chase.
She said, “Stella, I’ve told you not to waste your time. I’m going to seal this deal and secure the position of deputy director.
“Oh, by the way, the boss of the Dalla Technology Group has already boarded his car to catch a flight. You’re unlikely to catch up with him.”

After saying that, Sandra left in her high heels.

Stella looked towards the side door and saw that the people who had chased out earlier were returning with disappointment on their faces.
Feeling frustrated, she tightened her grip on her phone and happened to notice a new Facebook post from Sandra.
[Had a delightful conversation with the boss of the Dalla Technology Group. Thank him for his appreciation.]
The post was accompanied by a picture of a man’s back.
Stella thought to herself, “It seems that Sandra really met Nate.”
Feeling dejected, Stella returned to the office. As soon as she entered, she saw Harley excitedly walking towards Sandra.
He said, “Sandra, well done! I didn’t expect you to seal the deal with the boss of the Dalla Technology Group so quickly.”
Colleagues applauded, casting envious glances at Sandra.
“Thank you, everyone. Please trust me. I will continue to work hard,” Sandra said, looking proud and triumphant as if she were at an award ceremony for her promotion.
Stella didn’t want to pay attention to them and tried to return to her workstation, but Sandra noticed her.

Sandra asked loudly, “Stella, did you catch up with the boss of the Dalla Technology Group?”
Upon hearing her words, everyone’s gaze towards Stella turned disdainful and mocking.
The laughter from her colleagues made Stella feel embarrassed, but she didn’t back down.
She looked up at Sandra and truthfully replied, “I didn’t catch up.”
Sandra sneered and glanced at Harley, deliberately asking, “You didn’t catch up? Then, why did you go to the tech exhibition early in the morning? Stella, you wouldn’t use work hours to do anything else, would you? I know your mother is seriously ill, and you recently broke up with your boyfriend, but the boss. and Harley entrusted us with this important task because they believe in us. You can’t be absent–minded.”
Upon hearing Sandra’s insinuation that Stella had been doing. something else, Harley furrowed his brow.
He asked, “Stella, where did you go?”
“To the tech exhibition,” Stella took out her phone directly to prove she wasn’t lying. She said, “These are the photos I took. I…”
She was about to say that she had been with the people from the Dalla Technology Group, but upon careful consideration, she decided not to say anything about Nathaniel. After all, he was

her husband, and if she said they had coincidentally worked together, no one would believe her.
Stella thought to herself, “If I mention it, it might lead to suspicion towards Nathaniel.

The Dalla Technology Group is currently one of the most thriving companies in Cutas, and Nathaniel must have worked hard to get into that company.
I can’t ruin things for him just because Sandra is provoking me.”
Sandra glanced at the photos and dismissively said, “What does this prove? Anyone can take these photos. It won’t take much time to do so.”
Before Stella could explain, Harley was furious.
He said, “Stella, our company values this collaboration, and you should also value your work. Otherwise, you’ll bring shame to the company. Look at how efficiently Sandra gets things done.”
Sandra looked at Stella and raised an eyebrow, saying, “Mr. Barnes, this is what I should do.”
Stella didn’t want to engage in useless explanations. She could tell that Harley was now leaning more towards Sandra, who had connections.
Setting her phone aside, Stella directly asked, “Mr. Barnes, I remember that Sandra and I were competing based on our respective plans, right?”

Harley asked with some confusion, “Yes, what about it?”
Stella asked, “Where is Sandra’s plan?”
Harley was momentarily speechless.
Sandra’s smile froze on her face.

Turning around, Stella smiled at Sandra and said, “Sandra, we were working on a plan, not a romantic relationship, wouldn’t you agree?”
Sandra turned livid with anger.
Stella then looked at Harley and said, “Mr. Barnes, I only went to the tech exhibition today but gained some valuable insights. Please trust me. I will diligently complete the work.”
Harley wanted to say something more, but in the end, he just nodded awkwardly.
“Okay. You guys can get back to work,” he said.
After speaking, Harley quickly returned to his office.
Stella ignored Sandra’s provocation and returned to her workstation to start working.
Sandra glared at Stella before sitting down to work.
An hour later, Stella stretched and got up to go to the bathroom.

While about to come out of the stall, Stella heard the sound of water and some gossip outside.
“Who do you think will be the deputy director this time?” A woman asked.
“Do we even need to guess? It’s definitely Sandra. She has connections and even knows the boss of the Dalla Technology Group and Mr. Griffin. Even Mr. Barnes praised her. It’s obvious she’s the chosen one.”
“I envy her so much. Sandra is just so lucky. She gets whatever she wants. Poor Stella, she can’t possibly win against Sandra.”
“Poor Stella? Who do you think she is? I heard that she dumped her boyfriend just because he didn’t give her 100 thousand dollars.”
“What? She seemed decent on the surface, and I never expected her to be that kind of person.”
“You know nothing about her true color. But seriously, I can’t understand how someone as ugly as she dares to be picky with her boyfriend.”
“Exactly, if someone marries her, it’d be a blessing. She thinks she’s a powerful woman, but in the end, she is defeated by Sandra.”
“Sandra invited us for dinner. Are you going?”

The two women laughed and left.

Stella walked out of the stall and then looked at herself in front of the mirror. She straightened her clothes, took a deep breath, and turned around to walk towards the office.
As soon as she entered, she saw a big bouquet of roses on Sandra’s desk.
“Sandra, who sent you flowers today?” A colleague asked.
Sandra was touching up her lipstick in front of the mirror and smiled, “Oh, it’s just from the CEO of the Dalla Technology Group.”
