chapter19.
Upon hearing this sensational news, her colleagues rushed over.
Someone said, “Sandra, you’re amazing. You just met the CEO of the Dalla Technology Group this morning, and now, he’s sending you flowers. He must be interested in you.”
“Oh, come on. Gentlemen like to give women flowers. Haven’t you received any before?” Sandra replied dismissively.
“My husband says taking me out for a nice dinner is better than flowers,” a woman said.
“Although my boyfriend has given me flowers, they were always cheap ones bought at a discount from the flower shop. They can’t compare to this big bouquet of roses.”
Listening to their conversation, Stella slightly frowned as she stared at the bouquet of roses.
She thought to herself, “Nathaniel said Nate doesn’t like women, and Mrs. Griffin said Nate is tired of women. Nathaniel is not inclined to make up lies to deceive me, while Mrs. Griffin has no reason to deceive me, so how could Nate possibly send roses to a woman he barely knows?
It would be quite a change in his character, wouldn’t it?”
Stella didn’t believe it.

She felt that the flowers were likely one of Sandra’s tricks to disturb her.
She questioned, “Nice flowers. Did Nate send them?”

Sandra sneered and said, “Who’s Nate? Didn’t you hear clearly? They were sent by the boss of the Dalla Technology Group. Have you ever received flowers?”
Stella thought to herself, “Just as I suspected.
If Sandra is so familiar with the boss of the Dalla Technology Group, how could she not know his name is Nate?”
Shaking her head, Stella calmly replied, “I haven’t received any.”
Sandra smiled, completely disregarding what Stella had just said. She thought Stella misunderstood and believed the flowers were from a man pursuing her.
After all, there were too many men pursuing Sandra, and she couldn’t even remember all their names.
Sandra thought that if she wanted to undermine Stella, she should make Stella believe that she had a good relationship with the CEO of the Dalla Technology Group. She believed that would make Stella give up.
Sandra generously handed over the roses and said meaningfully, “Then, let me give them to you. After all, I’ll have plenty in the future.”

Stella raised her hand to refuse. “No, thanks. I haven’t done anything useful, so how can I accept this?”
Upon hearing Stella’s words, Sandra flushed with anger.
Sandra sensed the sarcasm in Stella’s words.
Several people watching the scene from their desks lowered their heads and burst into laughter.
Sandra forcefully put down the roses and said angrily, “Stella, I was just trying to be nice. You have too much ill will towards me, right? With your attitude, which man can tolerate you?”
Stella walked past Sandra. She walked back to her seat and asked calmly, “Oh, so what? Is there anything else? I still have work to do.”
Sandra clenched the roses in her arms, seething with anger. Some colleagues who liked to flatter quickly approached her to
console her.
“Sandra, don’t take her words to heart. There’s no need to be angry with her.”
“Yeah, she’s just jealous of you.”
Hearing their words, Sandra felt better. She sat down with the roses in her arms and said, “I’m fine.”
But as she watched Stella diligently working, her expression

turned sinister.
She thought, “Stella, you won’t succeed in competing against me! I’ll make you regret it!”
At five o’clock, Stella, as usual, chatted with Christina while clocking out.
Christina asked, “Stella, aren’t you worried at all? Sandra has captivated the boss of the Dalla Technology Group.”
“Don’t worry. He…”

Stella paused, feeling that it wasn’t right to talk about someone’s sexual orientation behind their back.
“What about him?” Christina asked.
“It’s fine. No matter how many people Sandra knows, as long as she can’t come up with a plan, others won’t cooperate with her. After all, those bosses aren’t fools.”
“That’s true. Anyway, I can’t stand Sandra. It’s just 99 roses. What’s so great about that? If I find a boyfriend, I’ll make him send me 999 roses!” Christina said dreamily.
“Are you crazy? You can’t eat them, so why spend so much money on flowers?” Stella asked in surprise.
“Anyway, I want to outdo her,” Christina said firmly.

Christina’s daydreams.
Stella went to the hospital to consult with a doctor about
Diane’s surgery plan, and after a few words with Heilyn, she felt reassured and returned home.
As she entered the house, she noticed Nathaniel’s shoes were there, too. She wondered, “Why did he come back so early today? Isn’t he supposed to work overtime?”
Entering the living room, Stella didn’t see Nathaniel, so she headed straight to the kitchen and put the spaghetti and oatmeal she had bought from a nearby supermarket into the refrigerator.
She really didn’t want to cat toast and planned to make breakfast for herself tomorrow.
Looking at the empty fridge, Stella felt it necessary to talk to Nathaniel about some daily issues.
But as she approached the study, Stella heard Nathaniel talking, on the phone, so she had no choice but to return to her room.
After turning on her computer, Stella resumed working on her plans. After a while, she felt hungry.
Glancing at the time on her computer, she realized it was already ten o’clock.
She remembered the spaghetti she bought in the evening, so she decided to leave her room. Outside her room, it was pitch black. with only a faint light seeping through the crack in the study

door.
“Nathaniel is still working?
Well, both of us are poor laborers,” she thought.

Not wanting to disturb Nathaniel, Stella walked away but heard him coughing as she passed by the study.
“Ah… cough. It’s alright. Please continue.”
Stella thought, “His throat is so hoarse, so how can he say it’s alright?”
Stella remembered Jennifer’s instructions and knocked on the door worriedly.
She asked, “Mr. Beaumont, are you okay?”
“I’m fine,” Nathaniel said.
“Do you have any medicine at home?” Stella asked.
“No. But I don’t need medicine. Thank you,” Nathaniel said as he coughed.
Nathaniel’s hoarse voice remained somewhat indifferent, but he was still polite.
Seeing how resolute he was in refusing, Stella didn’t ask further. After all, they were both adults, and she believed he could take care of himself.

Feeling somewhat helpless, Stella entered the kitchen to prepare to cook the spaghetti..
But she heard Nathaniel coughing again, and it sounded even
more serious.
Looking at the spaghetti, Stella sighed and walked out.
Leaving the residential area, Stella used her phone to search for
a nearby pharmacy and found one that was still open.
After buying the pills and cough syrup, Stella hurried back home.
After entering the door, she went straight to the study and knocked on the door three times.
“Mr. Beaumont, I bought medicine. Come out and take it,” she said, panting.
Inside the study, Nathaniel hesitated for a moment, thinking he must have misheard. “It’s already past ten, and she, a woman, went out to buy medicine for me?”
