chapter21.
“There are 20 thousand dollars in the card. Consider it as the living expenses for this month,” Nathaniel said.
Although they had signed a cohabitation agreement, Nathaniel didn’t want to take advantage of a woman, so he took the initiative to take care of the household expenses.
“Twenty thousand dollars? For living expenses?” Stella looked at Nathaniel in surprise.
She thought to herself, “What kind of ordinary person needs 20 thousand dollars just for living expenses every month?
Some ordinary people don’t even earn that much in a month.”
“Is there a problem?” Nathaniel asked, frowning and thinking that Stella might find it insufficient.
Stella thought for a moment and felt that since Nathaniel brought up this matter, it was necessary to clarify some things for the sake of their future life.
She said, “Mr. Beaumont, the cohabitation agreement states that we will live together as a married couple until the marriage is terminated. So, I think it’s necessary for me to know how much my husband earns in a month.”
“About 20 thousand dollars,” Nathaniel casually said, the salary

“Is this house fully paid for or on mortgage?” Stella asked, looking around.

Nathaniel felt a bit displeased, thinking that Stella was being too
intrusive.
“It’s on the mortgage. The monthly repayment is over 9 thousand dollars,” he replied.
“So, that’s almost half of your salary! Is this card you’ve given me your salary card?” Stella hesitated for a moment but still asked.
She knew that many young people didn’t like to save money. Most of the young people in her company had no savings. They would spend several thousand dollars each month and usually only have 100 or 200 dollars left before the next paycheck.
Those people would spend all their salary every month.
Stella didn’t expect Nathaniel to be such a big spender, either. She thought to herself, “No wonder Jennifer is so worried about him.”
Nathaniel thought for a moment, nodded slightly, and said, “It’s my salary card. Do you have a problem with that?”
Upon hearing his response, Stella felt inexplicably angry. But since she didn’t earn this money, she couldn’t blame Nathaniel for it, either.

Stella could only say, “It’s better to have a plan for spending money. Jennifer is getting older. You are her only son. What if… I mean, what if, in the future, she gets sick and needs a lot of money? Will you be able to afford it?”
Stella understood that feeling of helplessness all too well, so she asked with some anxiety.
Nathaniel remained silent. He looked at Stella with some confusion, thinking, “Is she asking about my salary because of my mom?”
Pointing to the card in front of her, Stella continued, “With the current cost of living in Cutas, 3500 dollars is enough for the two of us, and we can keep another 1000 dollars as emergency funds. I will contribute half of this money. After deducting the mortgage from your salary, I will leave you some money for social activities and smoking. However, I will save the remaining salary for you on the card, and you can check it anytime.”
After speaking, Stella continued to eat her oatmeal.
Seeing Nathaniel staring at her, she asked in confusion, “Do you
want some more?”
Nathaniel snapped out of his daze and continued eating quietly.
“No, thank you,” he said.
“Okay.”

After breakfast, Stella realized that she was running out of time for work. She quickly got up, grabbed her bag, and headed towards the door.
“Mr. Beaumont, remember to wash the dishes,” she said.
“What did you say?” Nathaniel was momentarily stunned.
He didn’t expect Stella to ask him to wash the dishes.
Stella turned around and looked at Nathaniel, saying, “Mr. Beaumont, the fifth clause of the cohabitation agreement states that we share the household chores. I made breakfast, so what’s the problem with you washing the dishes? You were sick yesterday, so it was reasonable for me to help, but you’ve recovered today. Or is it that you don’t know how to wash dishes?”
“I can do it.” Nathaniel furrowed his brows slightly.
Being questioned by a woman about his living skills made him feel a bit embarrassed.
After Stella left, Nathaniel finished his breakfast and carried the bowl to the kitchen.
Moments later, Carlos called.
He asked, “Mr. Beaumont, where are you? Didn’t you ask me to come and pick you up early? We have a video conference with

the overseas headquarters today, and they have a lot of things to discuss with you.”
“I have something to do,” Nathaniel replied coldly.
“What’s the maller?” Carlos asked.
“I need to wash the dishes,” Nathaniel said icily.
Carlos didn’t know how to respond.
Listening to the sound of rushing water on the other end, he fell silent.
