“Tell me honestly, is your husband a rich second generation?” Christina asked.
“No, it’s not,” Stella replied..
“Impossible. Judging by your mother–in–law’s condition and attire, she is clearly a noblewoman!” Christina said.
All the colleagues around agreed and nodded.
Stella originally wanted to explain simply, but suddenly Sandra’s jealous voice rang out from across.
“Stella, you’ve hidden too deep. No wonder you refuse to get back together with Jack, if it were me, I would also choose a family like your mother–in–law’s.”
Sandra was clearly implying that Stella abandoned Jack out of greed for wealth and luxury.
At this moment, Stella felt there was no need for explanations.
Doesn’t it perfectly match Sandra’s words if she says Jennifer used to do business?
And she really didn’t want to have any relationship with Jack
anymore.

She changed the subject. “You chose a family like my

mother–in–law’s? You don’t want your tall, rich, and handsome man anymore?”
Sandra’s expression changed. “That’s not what I meant.”

A colleague who didn’t like Sandra exclaimed loudly, “Rich and handsome men are great, but which mother–in–law from a wealthy family isn’t picky? I think Stella’s mother–in–law is better. She’s considerate and elegant, and she’s willing to spend money on Stella. With such a mother–in–law, there won’t be any trouble at home.”
Christina saw someone cursing at Sandra and immediately stood up for her.
“You don’t know, Stella’s mother–in–law bought her and her husband a house on Clyrence Road. That area is considered the most expensive in this district.”
Stella wanted to stop Christina after hearing the first half of the sentence, but she was a step too late.
The people around her tightened their circle upon hearing this.
“I’m so envious. When my husband and I got married, we could only afford a shabby house on Cloudy Road. The house would leak whenever it rained.”
“Your mother–in–law is so great! I need to learn from Stella when I look for a boyfriend in the future.”

Stella felt embarrassed just listening, shaking her head repeatedly.
“It’s not that exaggerated, it’s a house bought with a loan.”
“Who doesn’t take out a mortgage to buy a house these days? At least your husband can come up with a down payment of millions. He’s already doing very well.”

Stella laughed without saying a word, casting a reproachful look at Christina.
Christina pouted in apology, promising there would never be a
next time.
I thought the topic could be ended, but Sandra suddenly laughed.
“Stella, so this house is considered pre–marital property. But this can’t be considered your house, right?”
Stella felt indifferent, just about to nod, but Christina spoke. again.
“At least Stella’s mother–in–law treats her well. But it’s hard to say about your rich and handsome man’s mother. Wealthy people are most reluctant to talk about their property. Would you dare to ask them to buy you a house worth millions?”
Sandra’s expression was very gloomy.
Stella, worried that Christina was going too far, quickly said,

“It’s work time, no more idle chatter. Back to your seats.”
Everyone finally dispersed.

Stella bowed her head and continued to perfect the plan for Dalla Technology Group. Sandra had already finished, she also. had to hurry up.
Suddenly, her phone rang.
“Stella, everyone in the building’s group chat is discussing your mother–in–law. Everyone is envious of you,” Christina said with a smile.
Stella, however, frowned.
“How did they know?”
It took Christina a minute before she responded to the message.
“Sandra has been constantly bragging about her suitors in the group chat. I couldn’t help but mention the thing about your mother–in–law just now. Unexpectedly, everyone envied you. Sandra was so angry that she stopped messaging. Hahaha.”
“Christina, could you please not mention my personal matters in the group chat in the future?”
Jack is still in that group. In case Jack thinks Stella is showing off on purpose, he will come to bother her again.
“Why not? It’s not a bad thing, and it can even annoy Sandra

“I don’t like being talked about,” Stella replied helplessly.
“I understand.”

The three simple words clearly showed Christina’s displeasure.
Stella wondered, “Why isn’t she happy?”
The one being discussed is not her.
“Christina really needs to change her personality, otherwise she will cause trouble.”
Stella sighed, continuing her work. But she could always vaguely feel someone watching her with a cold gaze.
But when she looked up, she didn’t notice anything. Perhaps she was feeling a bit uncomfortable because she had received too much attention today.
On the other side, Sandra withdrew her gaze before Stella looked up. As she lowered her head, she saw her phone screen filled with envy for Stella.
She thought, “Does Stella even deserve to step on my head?”
She, a woman with neither money nor beauty, still wants to compete with me for jobs and attention?
“Dreaming!”

Just as Sandra was thinking about how to kick Stella out of the game, Harley walked out of the office.
“Stella, Sandra, there’s a networking event at two–thirty this
afternoon, with quite a few foreign guests attending. You both should go.”
“Alright.” Stella nodded.
Sandra thought, “A foreign guest? My chance to shine has arrived?”
Though Stella can speak French, she doesn’t speak it as fluently as I do.
If I manage to expand a few foreign clients on the side, the boss will no longer pay attention to the plans Stella is making.
“I will definitely become the deputy director.”
“No problem, Mr. Barnes.”
Sandra spoke cheerfully, as if something delightful had happened.
Stella found it a bit strange, but didn’t pay much attention to it.
The mixer was held at the Crystal Hotel.

On the way to the networking event, Sandra was in a good mood, humming a song and applying makeup in her compact mirror.
She showed no signs of being upset at noon.
As soon as she got out of the car, Sandra tugged at her bodycon.. dress, even adjusting the strap of her outfit down a notch, then sashayed away first.
Stella pursed her lips slightly. It seemed that Sandra wanted to use the previous method again. She didn’t want to do that, she just went into the hotel by herself.
The hotel where the exchange meeting was held was the five–star luxury hotel of Cutas, and the people coming and going were all considered high–end crowd.
As soon as she entered, Sandra walked towards the guests. outside the banquet hall with a smile.
Stella then turned around and found the sales manager she
knew.
“Stella, why did you bring Sandra along? I feel annoyed whenever I see her. She kisses everyone as soon as she walks in the door. This isn’t abroad.”
“There might be more foreign guests today,” Stella explained awkwardly.
“Alright, no more chatting. I’m quite busy today. I’ll give you an extra hour to leave. When the time comes, you can find me to

sign the bill and go to finance to refund the entrance fee.”

“Thank you. But what are you busy with today? I see that there aren’t many people in the hall.”
“Someone has come to discuss a purchase. Our entire sales department is accompanying them. This hotel is going to change
owners soon.”
“Acquisition?” Stella asked, looking at the manager in surprise.
“Who is so capable to acquire such a large hotel?”
“He is the boss of Dalla Technology Group. Have you heard of him?”
“Is it him again?” Stella was slightly taken aback.
“Do you know him too? Is there anyone in the business circle who doesn’t know him now? He’s amazing! Originally, it was the Beaumont Group from Cutas who was discussing the acquisition with us, but then he showed up.”
