I heard about him again a month later, through office gossip in the company break room.
“Hey, did you guys hear? The CEO of Brooks Corporation next door got cuckolded.”
“Seriously? Is that woman crazy? Mr. Brooks is rich and powerful. How dare she? Isn’t she afraid of retaliation?”
“My aunt works at XX Hospital, you know, that private clinic for the wealthy. I heard this woman was originally the

I coughed lightly. Though I’d mostly moved on, it still felt awkward having this slapped in my face.
The gossip continued, “I heard that two weeks ago, she gave birth. But the baby came out with curly hair. Neither family
has that gene, so they rushed to do a DNA test! Guess what happened?”
“Sure enough, the kid wasn’t Mr. Brooks! That woman got slapped twice by her mother–in–law right then and there. Mr.

As fate would have it, one of the gossip’s main characters showed up at my door that very night.
