Mr. Morrison wasn’t keen on selling any at first, but with Selena’s persistent charm and his friendship with Callum, he finally agreed to sell one to her at a friendly discount.
To show her appreciation, Selena treated dinner for them before she and Callum headed back home.
Their journey was delayed by a traffic jam caused by an accident, so by the time Callum dropped Selena off at Moon Bay, it was already midnight
Selena noticed Callum looked worn out, felt a wave of guilt and said, “Callum, I can’t thank you enough for today. You really went above and beyond for me. I owe you a big dinner sometime!”
“Not a problem,” Callum replied without hesitation.
He hopped out of the car, went to the trunk, and handed her the bag with the pendant.
Selena took it gingerly, holding it close. She smiled. “Get home safely.““>

Callum got back in, rolled down the window, and, seeing her still standing there, gave a gentle wave. “Get inside.”
The car drove off into the night.
Selena watched until the car vanished into the darkness before heading inside.

As they were leaving the highway earlier, Callum had asked where she wanted to go. She had planned on returning to Joy’s apartment since she hadn’t packed her things yet.

After some hesitation, she decided to head back to their villa.
The villa was dark, as Everett was probably already asleep. He never stayed up late, maintaining a schedule like a retiree, which was
maddening.
Selena tiptoed in, quietly changing her shoes. She had dealt with Margot and traveled for over eight hours, leaving her completely wiped out, and she had no energy left for Everett’s drama.l
But just as she reached the stairs, footsteps echoed from above.
She looked up to find Everett, hands in his pockets, standing on the steps with an icy demeanor, staring down at her.
His eyes were sharp, cutting through her like a blade, resembling a grim reaper in the dead of night.
Startled, Selena’s heart skipped a beat, and she stumbled, barely catching herself on the railing.
Taking a few deep breaths to steady herself, she said irritably, “You know scaring someone like that could give them a heart attack, right?“!
Everett sneered, “If you weren’t up to something, you wouldn’t be scared,”
Selena was slightly baffled. Who did he think he was to mock her? She was just late, and it wasn’t even her fault–it was thanks to his precious mistress.
“Selena, you ignored my calls and texts–is your phone just a paperweight now? Or are your ears just for decoration?”
Tuning out his sarcasm, Selena replied coolly, “Oh, really? My phone died and shut off, so I didn’t see anything.”
“But I wasn’t just wandering around. I was running an errand.” She lifted the bag she was holding. “I was following your instructions to get a gift for Sydney.”

Everett’s eyes flicked to the bag, his lips tightening before he abruptly changed the subject, “You spent the whole afternoon and evening with Callum?”
Selena paused, then realized he must have seen Callum drop her off.
There was nothing to hide, so she nodded, “Yeah, he just happened to…”
